On July 8, 1939, Regina Wynonia Garrison was born on a farm between Blanchard and Tuttle in Grady County, Oklahoma to Lester Ray and Verna Christine (Fisher) Garrison, the second of five children. The family moved to Pueblo, Colorado when Regina was three years old and she lived there until the age of 12, when the family returned to Oklahoma and settled in Oklahoma City. The family remained there until the death of her mother in January 1955 and moved back to Pueblo where she graduated from Centennial High School in 1957.

Regina met the love of her life, Gary Louis Grabow while attending Tabernacle Baptist Church and they were married on June 1, 1957. When Gary was discharged from the military, they returned to Oklahoma and settled in Kingfisher where Gary was born and raised. In August 1960, they welcomed their first son, Gary “Bud” Grabow and in August 1964, they welcomed their second son Geoffrey Grabow. Regina’s husband, Gary, passed away unexpectedly on February 1, 1986.

While she did not grow up on a farm, and never lived on a farm, she loved being out there with her husband and sons doing farm things. Some of her fondest memories are those times when the farm work was complete and Gary would make a fire near the creek for the family to roast hot dogs and spend the evening just being together as a family. As her boys grew, they became involved in 4-H and FFA and she was present for every animal show as nothing made her more proud to see her sons in the ring with their show animals. This passion eventually extended to watching her grandsons and great-grandchildren when they too participated in animal shows.

When not being involved in her sons activities, Regina was an administrator at Kingfisher Memorial Hospital for over 20 years and retired in 2003 which freed up time to enjoy her favorite activity and passion, golfing. Regina was often found on the golf course and in her golfing career, she managed to score two hole-in-one hits, both in March and April of 1997. Even though she was not able to golf as much as she desired in the past year she still played an active part in putting together the Ladies Golf Association annual spring tournament and always looked forward to that event.

Regina’s other favorite hobbies were bowling, fishing and any activities involving her grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom she loved and adored deeply. She is also a lifetime member of Epsilon Sigma Alpha Sorority and enjoyed being a member of the local chapter.

Regina passed away at her home in Kingfisher on January 9, 2023. She is preceded in death by her husband Gary Grabow, parents Lester and Verna Garrison, and sister, Yvonne (Garrison) Shunk.

Those who remain to honor her life are her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren Bud Grabow, Dorothy Grabow, Geoffrey Grabow, Kenneth Thomas, Blaine Grabow, Lauren Grabow, Nathan Grabow, Heather (Miller) & Jason Rashall, Ryan Miller, Lasi Grabow, Lathyn Grabow, Owen Grabow, Edie Rashall, Amelia Rashall, Sophia Rashall, Sam Rashall, and Stella Miller. Her siblings Joyce & Jim Arnold, Lester “Sonny” & Dolli Garrison and Reaford & Joann Garrison all of Pueblo, Colorado. Her sister/brother-in-law Joye (Grabow) & Keith Garnett of Bay City, Texas. It would be remiss to not include the countless other family and friends who knew Regina and were blessed by her graceful and loving presence. All of us will miss her deeply.

A funeral service to honor the life of Regina will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Friday, January 13, 2023 at the Kingfisher First Baptist Church with Harold Drake officiating. Burial will follow in the Kingfisher Cemetery. Viewing will be held at Wilson Funeral Home (1612 S. Main St.) on Thursday, January 12 from 12:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. with family present from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.
