It’s funny how just the smallest thing can bring back so many memories of someone you loved so much - like just a pair of scissors. If you knew my mother then you knew what an amazing seamstress she was. She never used anything but her Gingher sewing shears. She had even bought me a pair and I can still hear her saying when she gave to me “never use them on anything but fabric”. Well it’s recital time and we needed to cut off some dresses for a group of dancers - I had asked the dancers moms to bring in scissors if they had them so they could help me cut them- well I accidentally left my scissors my mom gave me at home and asked to borrow one of the moms pair - when she handed them to me - I smiled -it was the same exact scissors my mom always used and ones she gave to me. It was almost as I felt her there - Everytime I cut the fabric of the dresses memories of my sweet beautiful mother flooded all over me - I could see her hard working hands using them - working hard to make anything I needed - helping with them at the studio and even at recitals - she always had them - well it’s recital time and I think it was just a sweet reminder that she’s always with me. It’s our 35th year Anniversary and without her the studio would not be what it is today. I miss her everyday. It may have been just a pair of scissors but to me I saw my mother - and what was so odd also is after I told the mother this is the only scissors my mom ever used the mother says - “yes my grandmother gave these to me and she told me to never use on anything but fabric”- wow same words of my mother -I take it as a little sign saying I’m with you and I’ll still be watching from the wings- I know she would be so proud .

I have learned so much over the many years I have been here and from my first year I have loved the girls and staff so much. I have made the best friendships from the studio, and everyone loves and cares for each other the same, no matter what. The staff have pushed me to grow and taught me that I CAN do so much! Everyone has shown me so much love and support, and I am grateful for being able to dance with the best team every day.”

What I love most about DPAC is the friendships and family I have made along the way. The countless memories I have made with this studio I will cherish forever. The staff and teachers here at DPAC hold a special place in my heart. They never fail to make me laugh, and they have always pushed me to be not only a better dancer, but a better person as well. To me, this studio isn’t about the competition, but it’s about the friendships and memories that you make here.
