Performance strength training shouldn’t be complicated.

The sad truth is performance training isn’t always sexy. It’s not about the newest trend or crazy exercises trying to mimic your sports movements. Sure, there are some areas that mimic certain movements but you’re not trying to replicate everything in the gym.

The truth is that performance training is about following structured program designed to improve your form, power, and strength.

This means you will be doing the same exercises repeatedly week in and week out. Yes, there are some changes and the loads and intensity will change but the basics have to be there. You can’t improve if you’re constantly jumping from one thing to the other.

When we were little, we moved and played a lot.

We ran, wrestled in the grass, climbed trees, and jumped out of swings.

If there was something we felt we could not do, it was because "we were too little."

When we grew up, we stopped running, playing, climbing, and jumping.

At first the excuse was, "I'm too busy."

But one day it might turn into, "I'm too tired. I'm too old. I'm too weak. I'm too sick."

This makes me sad that when we're no longer "too little," that we get too big to remember how to play.

Just because you’re an adult shouldn’t me you shouldn’t have fun!

You'll plan to wake up at 6am to fit in a 20 minute workout and then the baby wakes up early.

Almost every day will have a "but then" moment. Be flexible. Not every workout is going to be a rockstar workout - and that's okay. That's not the purpose. The purpose is to continually show up for yourself and do the best you can in that moment.
If you have to cut it short - that's okay. If you have to move it to tomorrow - that's okay. If you have to include the kids during - that's okay.
Look for ways to make it work instead of just giving in to the unpredictability.
Make adjustments and modifications. Just find a way to show up anyhow.
Because if we are always waiting for the perfect opportunity, we’re never going to do it.

We are bringing our knowledge of performance training to those, who just like us, have a passion outside of the gym.
