The Kimberly Water Department will be cleaning and flushing water mains from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. beginning September 14th – 17th and September 21st –24th.

The flushing will remove most of the natural minerals that have settled in the mains such as iron, a harmless-reddish brown mineral that does discolor the water. If you observe Water Utility Personnel working in your area, refrain from using water or use as little as possible for 45 minutes to ensure that the water has settled in the mains. This will also help prevent any iron from being drawn into your water piping system. If you do find that your water has become discolored, refrain from using it for an additional 30 minutes. Then draw off the remaining discolored water through the COLD-WATER FAUCET ONLY.

Your cooperation during this flushing procedure will benefit all water customers.
Thank you! -Kimberly Water Department

September 1st, 2026 is the first day of school for the Kimberly Area School District. Please use caution while navigating school drop off or while traveling throughout the community as walkers and bikers make their way to school!

🚗 Reminders for Drivers
*Respect the 15 mph Limit: Under Wisconsin law (Wis. Stat. § 346.57), the speed limit is 15 mph when passing a schoolhouse or marked school zone when children are going to/from school, playing near the sidewalk, or when a crossing guard is present.
*Yield at All Crosswalks: Drivers must yield the right-of-way to pedestrians crossing within any marked or unmarked crosswalk (Wis. Stat. § 346.23). Never block a crosswalk at a red light or stop sign.
*Stop for School Buses: You must stop at least 20 feet away from a school bus when its red lights are flashing and the stop arm is extended (Wis. Stat. § 346.48). This applies to traffic approaching from both directions, unless separated by a physical median island.
*Obey Crossing Guards: Always follow the directions of school crossing guards and stop fully when they hold up a stop sign or enter the roadway (Wis. Stat. § 346.57(4)(b)).
*Never Pass Stopped Vehicles: It is illegal in Wisconsin to overtake or pass a vehicle that has stopped at a crosswalk or intersection to let a pedestrian cross (Wis. Stat. § 346.24(3)).
*Put Away Distractions: Wisconsin law prohibits handheld cell phone use in work zones and school zones—keep your eyes on the road and scan for kids stepping out between parked cars.

🚶 For Pedestrians & Students
*Use Crosswalks and Intersections: Always cross at designated crosswalks or street corners where drivers expect to see you (Wis. Stat. § 346.23).
*Look Before Stepping Out: Pedestrians cannot suddenly step off a curb into the path of a moving vehicle that is too close to yield safely (Wis. Stat. § 346.24(2)). Make eye contact with drivers before crossing.
*Obey Traffic Signals & Guards: Wait for the "WALK" sign or the clear signal from a school crossing guard before stepping into the street.
*Stay Visible & Alert: Put away phones and remove headphones while crossing streets. Wear bright clothing or reflective gear during early morning or evening hours.
*Bicyclists: Please familiarize yourself with the village's updated bicycle ordinance which includes helmet usage laws, defines a variety of wheeled devices as bicycles, and highlights safe operating procedures for these devices. https://www.vokimberlywi.gov/departments/public-works/bicycle-safety-updates/
