Fall is just around the corner, and we couldn’t be more excited for another pheasant hunting season at Horseshoe K Ranch!

One of the best parts of the season is welcoming back so many familiar faces year after year. We can’t wait for the hunts, the stories, the laughs, and all the memories that come along with another fall at the ranch.

It has only been three weeks since the last post, but the progress on the Green Lodge has been incredible! Every day it looks a little different.

After last August’s storm changed so much here at Horseshoe K Ranch, seeing the Green Lodge rise again is a pretty special feeling. This location means so much to our family—Jennifer’s Great Grandpa and Grandma Aikins lived at this location years ago, and her Grandma Donna and Great Uncle LeRoy was raised here.

We can’t say enough about this crew. They show up every day ready to work, take pride in what they’re building, and continue to amaze us with everything they’ve accomplished. We are so grateful for each of them and the care they’re putting into this project.

We can’t wait to welcome our hunters this fall and share this beautiful new lodge with all of you. The countdown is on!

Getting ’er done!

The garage and living quarters are really starting to take shape, and it’s exciting to see the progress every single day. We couldn’t be happier with the crew working out here. These guys work incredibly hard, take pride in what they do, and are just great people to have around.

Watching this project come together has been tons of fun! We are so thankful for this hardworking crew and all they’re doing to help bring our vision to life.

Well… this definitely isn’t the kind of video we were hoping to be starring in. Especially, right in the middle of rebuilding our new lodge and garage after the destruction from last August’s storm.

Thankfully today Mother Nature let us off the hook.

Big things are happening at Horseshoe K Ranch!

After the loss of the Green Lodge last year, we are excited to share that we are building a brand-new lodge for our hunters and guests. While it was hard to say goodbye to a place that held so many memories, we are looking forward to creating a new space where many more stories, laughs, and traditions will continue for years to come.

We are also adding a garage onto the Main House. Last year, we turned the original garage into a game room for our hunters, and it quickly became a favorite gathering spot after a day in the field. This new addition will help us keep improving the ranch while making sure our guests feel right at home.

We are so thankful for everyone who has been part of the Horseshoe K Ranch family. Your support, friendships, and traditions mean the world to us. We can’t wait to welcome you back and share these exciting updates with you!

Just a little hello from all of us at Horseshoe K Ranch!

We’re still here… watching the seasons change, taking care of the land, and already looking forward to the next time the fields are full of laughter, stories, and the sound of wings.

Whether you’ve been coming for years or it’s been a while — we think about all the memories made here and can’t wait to make more.

A dear friend gone far too soon. She was one of my very first friends, thanks to our parents being such good friends. So many cherished memories through the years. In later years, we were blessed to have her work with us at Horseshoe K Ranch—her baking skills were always a hit. She always loved the music and having a good time, and I’ll forever miss hearing her giggle.

Reina Ford, age 53, of Wessington Springs, SD, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, January 7, 2026 at her home in Wessington Springs. Her Memorial Service will be held at 100 p.m., on Wednesday, January 14, 2026 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Wessington Springs with burial to follow at Prospec...
