This is a fun tournament for all. April 20th. 50 dollar entry and get the rod and reel that you fish with during the tournament. At the end of tournament you get to keep the rod and reel. Register now at hook and arrow and pick up rod and reel now or the morning of tournament.

Official Kayak Rules for the One Rod Rodeo Kayak Fishing Showdown.


1. Fishing Chaos is the official tournament management software. You must download the fishing chaos app at www.fishingchaos.com and register for a free account. Submissions will only be accepted via the app, there will be no manual uploads by the judge or tournament director.

2. Contestants MUST HAVE THEIR GPS TURNED ON. Location and Camera settings must allow access to Fishing Chaos.

3. Fishing hours for Hook and Arrow 2024 tournaments begin at 7 a.m. CT and end at 2 p.m. the same Day. You may launch your kayak prior to 7 a.m. but lines in begins at 7a.m. You Can register before tournament and pick up rod at Hook and arrow in whiteoak or register between 6 am and 7 am on the day of tournament and pick up rod then.

4. Contestants may submit as many fish to the Fishing Chaos app, the app will cull all but your one (3) largest fish.

5. Fish must be submitted by the last minute of 1:59 pm (All fish that are submitted must have been caught in the designated Lake by the contestant during tournament dates and fishing hours.

6. Fish cannot be restrained on a stringer or in a live well, they must be alive when photographed and then released.

7. The official Tournament sticker must be visible in the photo submission.

8. Contestants must use a hard surface measuring board with a left raised bump/fence with ¼” increments. Boards with whole or ½” increments will be rounded down. The tournament boards are the ketch board


9. Contestants must wear a Coast Guard approved PFD while occupying their kayak during tournament hours. Contestants caught not wearing a PFD will be disqualified.

10. Watercraft acceptable for use in Hook and arrow Kayak tournament are those manufactured and marketed as canoes, kayaks, or SUPs for which Watercraft propulsion is restricted to paddle, pedal, pole, or electric motor.

11. This Agreement shall be governed by the laws of the State of Texas. All rights and obligations of the Hook and Arrow Kayak Tournaments and the Competitor under this Agreement are subject to all applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations. These terms and conditions shall be deemed revised to conform to applicable statutes, rules and regulations. Hook and Arrow may modify the terms and conditions stated herein at any time in its sole and absolute discretion. Competitor shall be bound by the modified Agreement and agree that no other modifications shall be enforceable. This Agreement constitutes the entire Agreement between the parties and supersedes all prior agreements between the parties, whether written or oral. The invalidity or unenforceability of any provision hereof shall not affect the validity or enforceability of any other provision. The waiver of any breach shall not constitute a waiver of any subsequent breach.

12. All fish must be caught by the Competitor on rod That was given to them. No other rod and Reel may be on the Kayak to be used. You will keep the rod and reel when tournament is done. No traps, snares, set lines or other methods of fishing other than rod, reel and line are permissible, even if legal under state game laws. Violation will result in disqualification from the Event.

Scoring Criteria:

a. Each digital photo must be a first-generation image (not a screenshot of another photo/video). Violation will result in submission disqualified.
b. Measurement is to the nearest ¼ inch, last touched line. If the fish is laying in between lines, length will be rounded down.
c. ENTIRE fish must be in the photo from mouth to tail. Submission will be denied if the entire fish is not in the photo.
d. The fish’s mouth must touch the bump/fence of the measuring board. Mouth not touching the bump if the fish mouth does not touch then Submission will be denied

e. The fish’s mouth must be closed completely. Any open mouth will result in a .25” deduction. (deformed mouths will be judged the same way as an open mouth)
f. Photo centered and directly over the fish helps with accurate judging. The judge may deduct for an open mouth if unable to see the mouth closed due to the angle of the photo.
g. Fish must face left, with the left side of the fish facing up and belly towards the angler. Submission will be denied if the fish is not positioned properly on the board.
h. Left eye must be visible in the photo. Submission will be denied if your finger or hand is covering the eye or a portion of the eye. If your fish does not have a left eye, a video of the fish swimming away must be taken to prove the fish is alive. If a video is requested by the judge or Tournament Director and not provided the submission will be denied.
i. Tail can be pinched or in a natural position.
j. If the tail is flipped up, not touching the measurement ruler, the judge will make the ruling based on the last touched line on the board.
k. Avoid placing your finger, hand, or identifier under the hard bone of the gill plate. Submission may be disqualified if the judge determines your finger, hand or identifier is under the gill plate.
l. Fish cannot be restrained on the board except by hand.
m. You cannot use the same fish more than once in the event. If the same fish is submitted it will be denied.
n. The top three fish of your catch will be used. Hook and Arrow tournament winnings will be paid out of the entry fee. 1/5 will be used for administration and 4/5 will be used for pay out of 1st 2nd 3rd place.
o. The largest fish caught by a male angler during the tournament will win A rod .
p. The largest fish caught by a female angler during the tournament will win A Rod
q. The largest fish from a Child angular during tournament will win A Rod
r. The Smallest single fish will win a box of hand picked lures from Hook and Arrow.
s. Any angler who has been disqualified for cheating from any fishing tournament Held By Hook and Arrow will not be able to compete in any tournament.
t. Professional guides who have guided on Lone Star Lake in the last six months (prior to April 20) is not eligible to compete in this tournament.
u. How we deal with ties: The bag limit of fish will go to the fourth largest fish submitted and so on. The largest fish and smallest fish that tie is determined by the first one to submit a photo.

Great news. There will be a big bass tournament for KYKX 105.7 the first of May. Best part is there will be a kayak division all its own. Payout for top 3 every hour, biggest bass male and female for each day and biggest over all wins the big prize. The event will be on Lake Lone Star in lone star Texas. There is more details to come.

Hey 903 Yakin friends! I wanted to share with you all the excitement I experienced at this year's Big Bass Bonanza. As a spectator, I was blown away by the incredible display of fishing talent and passion on show. And one of the things that really stood out to me was the growing trend of kayak fishing.
It was amazing to see so many anglers taking to the water. Fishermen in boats and in their kayaks, competing alongside each other. The atmosphere was electric, with everyone cheering on their favorite participants and celebrating their love for fishing. Whether it was in a kayak or a boat, everyone was there for the same reason - to catch the biggest bass they could.
For me, it was particularly exciting to see the emergence of kayak fishing as a legitimate and competitive fishing method. Kayak fishing offers a unique perspective and level of engagement with the water, and it was clear to see that those participating were having a blast.
But it wasn't just kayak fishing that had me on the edge of my seat it was the challenge for them to keeping their catch alive and healthy. The challenge of getting back in time for them to weigh in, but with the right tools and strategies, it's definitely achievable. And it's worth it
This tournament showcased all types of categories to win with your big bass. It was amazing to see the diversity of fishing techniques and the skill levels on display.
All in all, the Big Bass Bonanza was an incredible event that really showcased the best of fishing. I feel so lucky to have been a part of it and can't wait to see what next year's event will bring. If you're a fishing enthusiast like me, I highly recommend checking it out!
