Kiel Bait & Gun A familiar known store known to hunters and anglers as Mike's Bait & Gun is now known as Kiel Bait & Gun owned by Erik Johnson.

The store specializes in hunting and fishing tools, gear and bait for the outdoors men and women. Erik's personal interest in hunting and fishing stems back to his childhood. Today, because of a diagnosis with multiple sclerosis, he can't hunt any longer but is still able to go fishing. Because of the illness, his longtime association with the Kiel Fire Department as a firefighter and certified EM

T is now curtailed, limiting him to light duty. Customers accustomed to buying potatoes and holiday trees from the Wisconsin Rapids area and wreaths made of Upper Michigan grown boughs at the store will be happy to know that ther service will be continued. As a member of the Hermitage Club and Kiel Fish & Game Conservation Clubs, he wants to support the activity of those and other conservation clubs whether they be fundraisers or educational programs on hunting safety. Erik credits his friends for assisting him in getting the business organized. He works at the store during business hours himself, which he views as an opportunity to get to know his custoemrs and the needs of the community and area.

The crappies are hitting very good on the South end & the water is very clear making it hard for those who like to jig. If trolling, try in the deep parts of the lake by Garlic Island.
