Key West RFC is planning a 20th Anniversary Celebration at the Beerfoot Rugby Tournament in Ft Myers Beach, FL in 2023. Save the date and make your plans to be there for the Alumni Party. The idea of the Key West Rugby Club, like most brillant ideas, started over a few shared beers by Ricardo Quiles-Rosa, Christian Kahle, and Joel Dos Santos in Feb of 2003. Those beers lead to a fateful phone call to a snow bound Chicagoite rugby supply peddlar by the name of Mike Spontak. Rugby balls were soon in transit to the Southernmost City. Soon after a rugby starved Bill McDonough heard a rumor that a couple guys were throwing a rugby ball around duval street. The rest is now history....
Since that time, more than 300 players have suited up for Key West. The Club has developed select side players who have gone on to play for the Navy, Coast Guard, Army and Combined Services teams. The Club has even played internationally. In May of 2005, the Conch Republic National Rugby Team met the the Bahamaian National Rugby team in Nassau, Bahamas.
