Celebrating our 45th year of providing memorable dive vacations. We offer daily reef trips to the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary and the wrecks off of Key West including the Vandenberg. Our divers will also have full guest privileges at Stock Island Harbour where we keep our boats. You may enjoy the restaurant, bar, gym, sauna, pool and private beach. We are a PADI, SSI, PSS, SDI and NAUI

certified shop and offer certification from open water through divemaster. Our classes are available to fit any schedule and are usually conducted with no more then 1-3 people per class. If you are interested in trying out scuba diving we also have a resort course. Snorkelers are welcome on any afternoon trip.

Some mornings the ocean tells you exactly what kind of dive it's going to be, and the smart move is to listen.

Twenty-five feet of visibility at the Nine Foot Stake, a medium current running west to east, and storms building over the Gulf that'll push gusts across the deck before the day is done. That's not a postcard morning and we won't sell it as one. What it is: a genuinely good current-aware dive for people who know how to use one. Our crew walked every buddy team through the plan on the rail before anybody got wet β€” enter up-current, let it work for you, come back on the line. Nobody rushed. That's the whole trick.

Looe Key is one of the great reefs of the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary. On September 13th, a group of Advanced Open Water divers is heading there to pull debris off the coral that standard cleanup dives can't reach.

Since 2024, Captain Hook's divers and Force Blue Special Operations veterans have together removed more than 9,000 pounds of marine debris from these reefs. September 13th adds to that number β€” and every diver on that boat is part of it.

They came back. We love it when this happens! It gives us a chance to catch up!

The advanced skills-training crew that ran with us this summer was back on Captain Malcolm's boat today, and the water gave them an easy one β€” flat seas, no current, 88Β° water, and 30 feet of visibility. Thirty feet isn't the number we brag about. It's the number where you find out whether your crew is any good, because at 30 feet you stay tight, you keep track of your buddy, and you run the plan you briefed. This group does that in their sleep.

They geared up, went in, and made it look boring they're so good.

August on the water β€” the Key West edition.

We ran the wrecks hard this month and the photos deserve better than a hard drive. So here's the set: August 18 on the Vandenberg and August 19 on the Cayman Salvager, both with Captain Billy.

No filters, no touch-ups. Wetsuits half on. Regulators in teeth. That particular look a person gets about four seconds before stepping off a boat rail into open blue water.

Looe Key is one of the crown jewels of the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary β€” and on Sunday, September 13th, a group of Advanced Open Water divers is heading there to pull debris off the reef that standard cleanup dives simply can't reach.

Captain Hook's Big Pine Key has 16 spots open for AOW certified divers ready to do something real. Anchors. Traps. Weighted gear sitting on living coral. A dedicated divemaster for every four divers. Pre-dive instruction. Post-dive discussion on real reef impact.

Four knots of wind. That's the whole weather report.

Captain Billy took the boat out to the Nine Foot Stake this morning and tied into water so still the reef was showing itself from the surface β€” you could pick out the coral ledge from the stern before anyone stepped off. Forty feet of visibility, 89-degree water, and just enough current to drift without working for it.

The Nine Foot Stake is one of our easy ones: shallow, bright, forgiving. Snorkelers and divers share the same water and both leave happy. On a morning this calm it's about as gentle an introduction to the Keys reef as we can hand somebody.

Three knots of wind. That's it. That's the whole forecast.

Sunday afternoon at Haystacks, Captain Billy shut the engines down on water so quiet the only thing moving was a set of one-foot rollers coming through every so often β€” no current, 88-degree water, 40 feet of visibility, and a red life ring bobbing next to two snorkelers who clearly had no intention of coming back to the boat.

These are the afternoons we don't get many of. When the wind lays down out here in late August, the ocean turns into something closer to a swimming pool with a reef at the bottom of it.

Key West, here's your week. Twelve shots β€” go find yourself.

Captain Billy ran Haystacks, the Vandenberg and Nine Foot Stake all week out of Captain Hook's Dive Key West, and Wednesday morning on the Vandenberg was the one: eighty feet of visibility, divers on the line all the way down. The rest of the week belonged to the people on the bench β€” couples in vests, buddy pairs in full wetsuits throwing thumbs-up before they'd even splashed.

Shark Week ended on August 1.

Nobody told this one.

Our divemaster Mark Molesworth filmed this Caribbean reef shark at Looe Key on August 3 β€” two days after the credits rolled on TV. Fifteen feet of water, 88 degrees, no cage, no bait, no chum. Just a shark going about its afternoon while a diver held still and let it come.

Here's what makes it worth knowing. The Caribbean reef shark (Carcharhinus perezi) is the most common large shark on Caribbean reefs β€” and the Florida Keys sits at the northern edge of its range. Go much further up the coast and you stop finding them. So this isn't a lucky accident or a wandering visitor. This one's a local. That reef is its address.

It's also a species in trouble. The IUCN lists it as Endangered following an estimated 50–79% population decline over the last three generations. Florida protects it: harvest is prohibited in state waters, and it's off-limits throughout U.S. waters.

Which is exactly why we don't feed them, chase them, or touch them. We get out of the way and let them be sharks.

That's not our marketing line β€” that's how Troy described the end of a five-day lobster charter aboard the Reef Hopper, and honestly it's the only review that matters. Five days. Same boat, same captain, same group of people who got steadily better at this as the week went on.

That's the part most folks don't think about when they book a single lobster trip. Day one you're learning to read a ledge. By day four you're picking your spots before you even kick toward them. Captain Wayne has been doing this long enough to shortcut a lot of that for you.

Florida's regular spiny lobster season runs through March 31. Monroe County limit is 6 per person, per day β€” bring your saltwater fishing license and lobster permit, measure in the water, carapace over 3 inches, and never an egg-bearing female.
