FirstTactical Games competition under the belt. This was a phenomenal event. Learned so much with still so much to learn. Exciting!
Over the almost 3 decades in my profession, so many have asked in reference to some of my crazy competitive endeavors: “why do you do it?”
For those interested, here are some reasons along with a little bit of philosophy:
MOTIVATION. Competition well help with lifestyle motivation. To prepare for such an event, everything must change. Diet, fitness routine, sleep, mental fortitude and the intensity of each day. All must be enhanced dramatically. With that being said, the more competition and challenge you give yourself through life, the healthier you will remain.
SELF REFLECTION. Especially coming from my perspective, being a fitness professional and Martial Arts/self-defense instructor, I have constantly challenged myself with litmus tests throughout my career. I always wanna be at the top of my game so I can train others to be at the top of theirs.
SURVIVABILITY. Could I survive in hostile environments under duress and high stress with extreme physical demands placed upon me? I need to know this.
GEAR TESTING. Will the gear and tools that I utilize in training hold up to the stress for real life tactical situations? And, can I run that gear with efficiency and proficiency under those stressors?
EXISTENCE. Putting yourself among the best. Win or lose, first place or 100th Place, as long as you’re in the arena you are a gladiator. Walking among those who are elite in there particular field is a noble push. To drive yourself to stay among the strong, is well worth all of the fight.
This last tactical games competition definitely helped answer many of those questions. Keeping me accountable. Competing in the 105° desert with dust storms and elite athletes will definitely provide what is needed.
Thank you for putting on such amazing events and organizing such a great community. Not only are you creating monsters, you are building protectors of the community. Rock on!
Now, time to set the goals and start working on the weaknesses. EXCITING!
