The 8th annual KEYS100 will be held the weekend of Saturday and Sunday, May 16 and 17, 2014. The race is a point-to-point event beginning in Key Largo (or Marathon, for the 50 mile race) and ending in Key West on the Atlantic Ocean at Higgs Beach. KEYS100 also promotes charitable fundraising for prostate cancer education, free screenings and more. Again in 2015, we are proud to support the work of the "Cancer Foundation of the Florida Keys". Individual runners and teams are invited to earn a refund of their full race entry fee by raising funds for the "Foundation". (Visit the "Registration" page for details.) The KEYS100 includes three distinct competitions: individual races of 100 miles and 50 miles, and our original Florida Keys six runner 100 mile team relay race. In the individual races, runners may compete with a support crew or without. Eleven (11) full aid stations serve all individual runners; these are located at approximately ten (10) mile intervals. Coolers with ice and water are positioned at approximately five (5) mile intervals. People competing without a crew may place drop bags with personal gear at five (5) different support stations along the route, and at two (2) stations for the 50 mile race. Over 1000 people competed in the 2014 KEYS100. That number is expected to exceed 1,200 in 2015. Looking for something different—with excellent bragging rights? Move up to the challenge of an ultramarathon. Run from Key Largo or Marathon City to Key West, through the amazing scenery and colors of the Florida Keys. EVER RUN A HALF-MARATHON OR 10K? Then the KEYS100 Relay Race is perfect for you—and five of your running friends! Our relay format is a lot of fun, uniquely flexible and easy to organize. You and your mates design your own race strategy: how many legs each team member will run and how long each segment will be. You may even make changes to your plan during the race. Then there is the artistic side—naming your team, decorating your team vehicle, insulting the competition… Unique, Keys-focused awards, too! Compete in a 100 mile race without running the entire distance yourself—the KEYS100 Team Relay. The KEYS100 races are the only USATF Sanctioned 50 and 100 mile ultramarathons in South Florida.
