Windy day mutton snapper today. We snuck out on a private charter and whacked a few nice ones!

We will be keeping her tied up tomorrow with a gale watch forecast. If I dips out at all by Tuesday we will fish!

Some red groupers around the last few days! Wind is coming tomorrow and we will be tied up. Once it blows through and settles into the NNE we will have no problem fishing through it. North winds make for calm conditions on a heavy 60’ boat when we fish just south of the island chain.

Some catches from this weekend! This is a great time of year to get out bottom fishing. The variety is great and the bites can be constant at times. We have a full day tomorrow with some space. 8-5:30

Other than that we are going all week on our 5 hour trips.

Fresh out of the boatyard. It was a tough stretch with heavy rains delaying us in the facelift. She went back in this morning and we headed out around 2pm for a 5 hour trip. We caught some nice fish, everyone got dinner and it was a beautiful afternoon. Very happy to be back on the water. Big thanks to our incredible crew who worked tirelessly to get the boat dolled up and back in the water through some pretty miserable conditions.
We are going every day! Anchor tree is welded and will be added for the windy season!

A beautiful day with some great people and an excellent catch aboard the Cora Beth II yesterday!

The full-day fishing bite is hot right now and should stay that way for a while. Getting some distance between us and Key West definitely makes for a longer boat ride, but the fishing has been well worth it.

Today, we hauled the Cora Beth II out of the water for some routine maintenance. If all of our projects go as planned, we expect to have her back in the water and fishing again next week.

This isn’t our biannual hull inspection, but I’m not a fan of letting the boat sit in the water for two straight years without getting some eyes on the running gear and through-hulls. Everything looked good underneath today, and we’ll get an even better look once the pressure washing is finished. From there, it’s fresh paint, some welding, and a few other projects before she goes back in.

I’m also hoping to get a double-anchor setup installed before the hard north winds arrive later this fall. Being able to hold the boat exactly where we want her makes an enormous difference in our wintertime catches.

A little downtime and maintenance now should have the Cora Beth II ready to go for a great fall and winter fishing season in Key West. 🎣
