Macdonald-Deady Sailing

Macdonald-Deady Sailing Thank you to our supporters! Zhik, FSE Robline, Kaenon

We started sailing together at the 2011 29er North American Championships, after a successful regatta, continued sailing with each other in 29ers with the goal of moving on to 49ers. While our short term goals are to refine our skills in 29ers, we ultimately want to mount a successful 49er campaign.

Well its certainly been a while since our last update! Last March, Mike got a concussion sailing for Hobart, which he's only recently been cleared from. After two weeks of light sailing, and then racing the last two days, things are starting to come together again. Mike still gets symptoms but its definitely getting better. We have another day of racing, followed by another week of training, and then Sailing World Cup Miami. Ultimately, we are just thrilled to finally be back in the boat together.

Three races followed by a medal race yesterday in shifty, puffy conditions put us in 4th place overall. While sometimes we were a bit frustrated by the conditions, overall we sailed a good regatta and are happy with our result.

Today we ended up postponed on shore until a bit after three. Eventually there was enough breeze for us to sail two races, in which we got a 3, 7. This moved us down to third but just by one point. Tomorrow the forecast is calling for more wind, which should lead to more exciting races. Results can be found here: http://www.yachtscoring.com/event_results_cumulative.cfm?eID=672

Finished up the 2013 49er North American's this passed Sunday with theater racing in some very light conditions. The difficult conditions in the theater racing allowed us to to identify a number of specific areas that we want to work on. That being said, we are however very happy with how we preformed over the course of the event whit a 4th place finish in the "traditional" style racing and a 5th place finish in the theater style racing. Big thanks to everyone that help us over our time in Miami!
