I had fished with max as a mate on the L&H out of key biscayne for almost ten years with 13 sailfish in a single day with his wife Jenny by his side on that special action packed day being our best day with me as a mate. Over two decades ago my wife Debbi and I bought the L&H from the previous owners the Dudas’s and I became Captain. Max gave me a quick crash coarse on business and even offered Debbi and I to loan the money to buy the boat! Our relationship blossomed and we became very close! Max did everything he could to help us out as new boat owners and even signed us up for a couple tournaments. One tournament we ran the L&H over fifty miles to palm
Beach (an unheard of maneuver at the time) and came home with the win! For the next twenty years max would charter us nearly every Wednesday weather and schedule permitting.
It was a cold windy March Wednesday when we had what I call our day. All the conditions lined up perfectly and the sailfish were everywhere. With just one friend helping max we were able to land 25 sailfish ( Maxs favorite fish) and pulled into the marina with over two dozen flags flying high from the L&H outriggers. Of the over 500 plus days I fished with max this was the best day.
We caught tons of fish, hundred pound groupers, limits of every possible fish in these waters even a blue marlin!!
I was always amazed at maxs strength, kindness and just the wonderful way about him up until the very end
Max was a true dear friend and will be missed and never forgotten
