Founded in 1980, a small Hunting Club started just north of Kewaunee, near Slovan WI. Franklin Otradovec, "the Original Club founder," purchased his beloved Kewaunee Farm in 1968. Franklin invited his co-worker and good friend Robert Delebreau Sr. & his wife Audrey to be a part of this legendary group. Soon after, Franklin and Robert extended their welcome to the honorable Chester & Faye Ligons of
Kewaunee. Franklin, Robert, and Chester lead the way to a Lasting Friendship and camaraderie that would carry on for decades to come.. Using a turn of Century "Long-Tom" Style Single-Shot, shot gun, Franklin showed his children and friends that emphasis on safety was always more important than the control of the deer population. Over the years, Robert taught his sons Robert Jr., Gerald, & James how to brave natures elements, appreciate everything around them, and always treasure friendships made over the years. Without missing any elements to a perfect friendship, Chester always demonstrated that gun safety was the Clubs top concern. He also chose to never leave anyone out in anyway. On July 4th, 1994 the CBHC was dealt a difficult loss. After suffering from heart complications Robert Sr. passed away and left his committment for his children to carry on. Although Robert had passed, his love for his family and his caring for friends would long live on for generations to come. As years passed, around 1997 Franklin decided to retire from Hunting, but he continued to participate in as acting Club Chairman and planning Club Banquets.. Chester, now senior active member continues to show his passion for hunting, but even more importantly his commitment to friendship and safety. Chester could usually be found perched high in the Gravel Pit Stand, or at other times in the Birds nest. He continued to demonstrate to junior members his skill on long distance precision shooting, leaving the young ones amazed. Chester offers his skills as a butcher to the club, never leaving a piece of meat to go to waste. Moving on to the twenty first century time continued to pass, and shooting skills did too. From this an Official Club name was derived. The Missed shots would now be referred to as having a Crooked Barrel.. The Newly Named "Crooked Barrel Hunting Club" (CBHC) group would now have a Legacy to carry on. Currently serving as Club President is John Otradovec and James Delebreau is the club Vice President. Robert Delebreau Jr. served as Club Safety Leader, and Chester Ligon's continues to be the Club Public Relations Officer as well as Senior Member.. Respectively serving as Club Treasurer is Robert Gagne.. Brock Delebreau currently holds the positions of Planning Commissioner & Club Secretary. Boyd and Ben Delebreau hold title as Club Planners for both Yearly Hunt & the Annual Banquet Festivities, as well has jointly holding the position of Assistant to the VP. Franklin Otradovec is our Active CBHC Chairman. After 3 decades the CBHC Club has seen some changes, but our Vision always continues to remain the same.
