On Friday August 21st the Boilermakers headed to Edgington to face the powerful Rockridge Rockets to open the 2026 Football season. K-Town lost 31 to 27. The Boilers played really hard. Gave a great effort.
Rockridge opened the the scoring with a 8-play drive for a touchdown Junior Chris Crowe ran the kickoff back 79-yards for KHS first TD. The Rockets answered with a 4-play drive for a score. The Boilers trailed 13 to 7 at the end of the first quarter. The 2nd and 3rd quarters belonged to the KHS offensive and defensive lines. Seniors Kamdyn Hicks ,Kaanan Griffin, Jesus Martinez, Robert Taylor, and Juan Zepeda. Also Junior Braeden Linn and Sophomore Dillon Ruzas. On defense they were making tackles in the backfield. On offense they opened holes and protected are passers.
In the 3rd quarter Junior Lain Taylor hooked up with Junior Chris Crowe for a 76-yard TD pass. Then Crowe ran 5-yards for a TD. Senior Jackson Price made his 3rd Extra Point kick for the night. Boilers led 21 to 13 going in to the 4th quarter.
In the 4th Junior Ace LaFollette ran 58-yards for Kewanee final touchdown. The Rockets put 18-Points on the board to win the game 31 to 27.
Highlights for K-Town :
Linebackers Eli Dennison had 7-Tackles and Ace LaFollette had 6-Tackles. Juniors Lain Taylor and Chris Crowe had INTS on the night. Kewanee played Freshman Cruse Cernovich at Quarterback. he did a good job. He is the 4th freshman to play QB for KHS.

Junior Chris Crowe had a big night also. His 79 yard kickoff return for a TD set the school record for Td returns at 3. He had 2 as a sophomore 85 yards at Princeton and 85 at KHS vs. Orion. There has been 28 Returns in Boilermaker history for Touchdowns.
