On Friday August 21st the Boilermakers headed to Edgington to face the powerful Rockridge Rockets to open the 2026 Football season. K-Town lost 31 to 27. The Boilers played really hard. Gave a great effort.

Rockridge opened the the scoring with a 8-play drive for a touchdown Junior Chris Crowe ran the kickoff back 79-yards for KHS first TD. The Rockets answered with a 4-play drive for a score. The Boilers trailed 13 to 7 at the end of the first quarter. The 2nd and 3rd quarters belonged to the KHS offensive and defensive lines. Seniors Kamdyn Hicks ,Kaanan Griffin, Jesus Martinez, Robert Taylor, and Juan Zepeda. Also Junior Braeden Linn and Sophomore Dillon Ruzas. On defense they were making tackles in the backfield. On offense they opened holes and protected are passers.

In the 3rd quarter Junior Lain Taylor hooked up with Junior Chris Crowe for a 76-yard TD pass. Then Crowe ran 5-yards for a TD. Senior Jackson Price made his 3rd Extra Point kick for the night. Boilers led 21 to 13 going in to the 4th quarter.

In the 4th Junior Ace LaFollette ran 58-yards for Kewanee final touchdown. The Rockets put 18-Points on the board to win the game 31 to 27.

Highlights for K-Town :
Linebackers Eli Dennison had 7-Tackles and Ace LaFollette had 6-Tackles. Juniors Lain Taylor and Chris Crowe had INTS on the night. Kewanee played Freshman Cruse Cernovich at Quarterback. he did a good job. He is the 4th freshman to play QB for KHS.

Junior Ace LaFollette ran the ball 15-times for 117-yards. He now has 1,097-yards in his career. He is the 25th Boilermaker to reach 1,000 yards. His place is :

Junior Chris Crowe had a big night also. His 79 yard kickoff return for a TD set the school record for Td returns at 3. He had 2 as a sophomore 85 yards at Princeton and 85 at KHS vs. Orion. There has been 28 Returns in Boilermaker history for Touchdowns.
Chris has 36 catches in his career that ranks him 19th:

It has been a pleasure working with all of Kewanee's young football players this summer. Tomorrow night our oldest and most experienced take the field for one last Friday Night Lights go-around. We have had a great pre-season and I am excited to see the effort of our team against a great program. When "preparation meets opportunity great things happen" Let's go Boilermakers! We have 13 Senior players and 1 Senior camera man backed by a host of talented and much improved athletes. We field 42 tomorrow night at Rockridge High School. Thank you to all the coaches and families that continue to make an impact on our program.

Drop the Football Player off for some skills training. Upcoming Athletes going into the 5th - 8th grade programs. Please share and bring a friend. Sign-up will be the day of and we will take shirt sizes during check-in starting at 5:45PM. We will have air conditioned space access and water available. Athletes should be healthy to participate in physical activity. We look forward to this every year! KHS athletes will be there to make connections with the next generation of Boilermakers!! The dates are correct due to a scheduled competition. Mon, Tues & Thurs. Question can be directed to me.

Kewanee Football had a great time learning from Kicker, Aiden Sensabaugh. Aiden is the Monmouth College Scots kicker and he made the trip to Kewanee to instruct and demonstrate place kicking and punting for 15 of our Athletes. Our junior athletes and High School kickers appreciate the guidance from an area standout. Thank you Aiden and our Kewanee Football players for committing time to improve skills needed for quality performance! Go Boilermakers!

Kewanee Weight Room opened today for Summer work. The pictures below represent some of our Athletes getting after it! Weights are a huge are of need for our athletes. Kewanee is using Team Builder app to help athletes improve efficiency and collect effort stats and Personal Record(PR) achievements. Great first morning Kewanee athletes.
