In honor of National Bowling League Day, we’re shining our Athletic Spotlight on Jessica Hatcher, Head Coach of the Fairmont Girls Bowling Team!

Jessica says one of the things she enjoys most about coaching at Kettering City Schools is the opportunity to coach alongside her brother, Jeremy, in the same district her children attend. She also appreciates the support of the Athletic Department and says she feels very fortunate to coach in Kettering.

Beyond wins and scores, Jessica hopes her student-athletes learn that how they respond to challenges matters more than the outcome. She believes sports teach important lessons in hard work, accountability, resilience and supporting others, lessons that carry far beyond the lanes.

Jessica credits her dad, Jeff, as her biggest coaching influence. He coached her in multiple sports throughout her life and now coaches the NCAA Women’s Bowling Team at Wright State. His passion for bowling, relationships and helping athletes grow has had a lasting impact on the way Jessica approaches coaching.

Favorite sports movie: A League of Their Own
Go-to game day snack: Crunchy peanut butter and bananas
Hidden talent: Before focusing on bowling, she was a competitive jazz and ballet dancer and played select soccer as a goalie for 10 years!

In honor of National Bowling League Day, we’re shining our Athletic Spotlight on the coach behind Fairmont Boys Bowling!

Now in his 10th year coaching in Kettering, he says what he enjoys most is the culture and community.

“Coming to coach here 10 years ago wasn’t an easy decision, but it was the best decision I have ever made in my life.”

One of the biggest lessons he hopes his student-athletes take with them beyond bowling is that being coachable matters, both in sports and in life.

“The most coachable athletes become the most employable adults. And the rivals you have today will be the friends you have tomorrow.”

His biggest coaching influence is his father, who coached both him and his sister and helped inspire their shared passion for helping others become their best.
