It’s taken me about a week for the shock to wear off from our community experiencing another devastating flood—many of us, including myself, haven’t even taken the green bows down from last year. 💔

Last year the flood weighed heavy on so many hearts and homes and emotionally injured so many in our beloved Hill Country. This time the flood’s physical impact was even more widespread among homes and businesses throughout the county.

This time directly impacting my home. We’re beyond grateful for our family’s safety but dealing with temporary displacement and home repairs while trying to care for three littles and work full time isn’t for the faint of heart.

As someone who has already walked through trauma and grief before with my miracle boy and his rough start to life, I know how vulnerable our body is to storing tension, stiffness and pelvic pain from the stress and overwhelm that comes with recovering from a catastrophic event. I also can relate to how upregulated your nervous system can become when you are faced with frequent fight or flight circumstances.

During his sermon on Sunday, our pastor encouraged us to show up for our community in whatever capacity we are able—time, resources, talents, prayer. 🙏🏻🩷

I want to offer what I am able to offer—a break for your nervous system to unwind and reset—an opportunity to allow yourself to pause and pour into yourself—and prayer.

So if you are:
🩵a flood victim (2025 or 2026)
🩵a first responder
🩵a church staff member of one of our wonderful local churches doing God’s holy work
🩵or if you are involved in community outreach

Please take advantage of ✨ONE FREE PILATES CLASS AND/OR 50% OFF ONE PHYSICAL THERAPY EVALUATION✨for the remainder of July and month of August.

🙏🏻🙏🏻If you need prayer, please reach out. I would love to pray for you during this time.

Our community has shown up for our family and I want to provide support too.

Any questions, DM me or email 💻 [email protected]

We will get through this together, with love 💕

Xoxo,

We are officially just beyond the halfway point for 2026 and that milestone + the beginning of a new month feel like a good time to announce some new endeavors with Mama to the Core!

For the last 6 years I have refined my ability to help women overcome their pelvic floor challenges and now I’m branching into helping CHILDREN address their pelvic health struggles.

🧒🏼👧🏼If you have a child facing:
•bedwetting
•fecal or urinary incontinence (once they have been fully potty trained)
•constipation
•overactive bladder

…PLEASE reach out! A lot of patients I work with in their 20’s-90’s will share that they have faced some of their pelvic health issues since CHILDHOOD. The sooner you address symptoms, the less severe and burdensome they become (on the whole family!)

I know busy mom life well and how hard it is to find time to fit in one more thing. Good news, a large part of pelvic floor PT with kiddos is education based (for the parents and kids) so often times you can see major improvements in just a few visits (and I offer VIRTUAL VISITS if that is more convenient).

Moms-I’m here for you and your kiddos. 🫶🏻

📣And if this post doesn’t apply to you, remember I treat not only female pelvic health specific conditions but also SPINE RELATED CONDITIONS, address HIP, KNEE, ANKLE injuries and work on BALANCE RETRAINING in both females and males.

Thanks to the inquiry of a sweet former patient of mine, I decided to expand my services to include virtual PT & private Pilates visits.

Although in person visits allow me to also incorporate manual therapy skills as warranted/deemed beneficial, pelvic floor PT is very education heavy and can still be very effective when executed in a virtual manner.

Like I say with most things in life, and especially PT, your outcomes are very dependent on the effort you put into it. So as long as you hold yourself accountable by implementing the recommended lifestyle modifications, strategies discussed and complete your assigned exercises, you can certainly reach your goals without having to physically step into my clinic.

I’m here for you-in person or virtually.🩷

😮‍💨Summer is finally here and especially anyone with preschool/ school aged littles, you probably are like me where you feel like you can finally take a long exhale.

⚖️Preparing for summer when you’re a working mom often feels like a second job—searching for all of the available VBS options, summer sports camps, enrolling in swim lessons, finding a summer sitter, making sure the kids have enough camps and lessons to keep them busy, but not bored.

🤯But what about mom? Who takes care of the one holding all of the complicated schedules together?

📋With new seasons, I always like to create new personal goals. Often they include ways of me trying to improve my health-whether it be getting physically stronger, enhancing my spiritual health through daily devotional practice, nurturing emotional health by planning outings with friends and taking time for self care.

🧘🏻‍♀️If you’re feeling a bit burnout and exhausted from the madness of “Maycember,”consider setting some goals centered around self care.

🫶🏻One of the things I love about working at SALT is that you have the option to meet all of your needs; strength, flexibility and mindful movement if you book a Pilates class, acupuncture to address pain and stress, chiropractic services to help with spine dysfunction, wellness services to improve skin, sinus and nervous system health, head spa/hair care, waxing and facials to treat yourself to self care and physical therapy to improve your strength, mobility, posture and enhance bowel and bladder control.

🧖‍♀️Don’t forget about yourself when you’re in the process of carefully planning ways to go above and beyond for your kids to make their summer special. With this new summer season, give yourself the permission to take care of YOU and give yourself the reset and recovery your body needs!

💁🏻‍♀️You can book private pilates classes, group pilates classes or a PT evaluation with me directly from my website: www.mamatothecore.com or from saltkerrville.com

☀️🩷🥰Investing in yourself is always a good idea. Wishing you a safe, healthy and happy summer!

This past Friday I was blessed to host a ribbon cutting to officially recognize Mama to the Core as a business in Kerrville through the Chamber of Commerce.

I felt so incredibly supported by our community, my wonderful work family, my dear friends and my sweet family.

I’m so grateful that Kristin, fearless owner of SALT Wellness & Sports Recovery, took a chance on allowing me to join an amazing team of talented wellness professionals, grateful for all of my friends and family who prayed for this discernment since God put the nudge on my heart and beyond thankful to my parents and my husband who believed in me when I doubted myself.

My kids also deserve lots of gratitude since they unfortunately had to endure some seasons where my focus wasn’t as presently on them as I would have liked, as I worked towards preparing for this endeavor and big step in my PT career.

I’m excited to continue supporting women of Kerr County as they heal from back/hip/pelvic pain or injury, overcome pelvic floor dysfunction, regain their confidence postpartum or just feel more empowered and stronger in their bodies. 🩷🩷

It’s been a minute since I shared a “Mindful Monday” post and as we approach Mother’s Day in the next couple of weeks I thought it might be helpful to touch on mindfulness surrounding Mother’s Day.

Working in Women’s Health keeps me very informed and aware of the importance of being mindful of sensitivity with the motherhood journey. I wanted to share some gentle reminders and also offer some ideas of ways to express comfort and support to those who might be experiencing grief with the upcoming Mother’s Day.

Reminders:
💞some women yearn to be mothers but may be facing fertility challenges
💞some women may be facing loss of a child
💞some women may have lost their mother or grandmother
💞some women may have a strained relationship with their mother

We don’t always know everyone’s story so when approaching Mother’s Day, remember to be aware that Mother’s Day isn’t always “happy” for everyone, it can also be a painful reminder of loss or disappointment.

If you have a loved one that’s facing any of these life situations mentioned above, it’s best to show your support through:

1️⃣ Being present and patient —grief takes time to process so be available to your friend/family member when they feel ready to lean on you. Maybe leave them a note or send them a text just showing them you care and you are thinking of them.

2️⃣ Offer specific help—bring over a coffee or hot meal, ask them for their grocery list, organize a play date with their kids, fold laundry for them.

…Don't ask how you can help—generally when you’re consumed by grief you don’t have the bandwidth to voice your needs—so just doing chores or small acts of kindness can be so helpful and appreciated.

3️⃣ Listen more, talk less. —sometimes it’s hard to know the right words to show comfort. It can be helpful to allow the person grieving to steer the conversation and talk through their emotions at their own pace.

This past Saturday I ran Half Marathon #9 for me, the Outlaw Half Marathon. As a runner who has been racing for 23 years, I definitely tend to have high standards for myself and my competitive nature is forever chasing a PR.

This training season was pretty challenging and erratic due to my current “busy mom” season of life where every day is very much out of my control and plans often become foiled due to kids’ illness.

Usually I go into a race with a time goal but this time, I just followed my sister’s advice and “enjoyed the time to myself and my ability to run and didn’t put the pressure on myself to try to break any records.”

Luckily I already reframed my mindset to slacken my expectations for myself before the starting line so I could just enjoy the race and remove the disappointment when I play the comparison game of comparing Saturday’s finish time to my last half marathon race time from Dec ‘23 that was almost one minute faster per mile🙃.

A new epiphany hit me at mile 5 of the Outlaw race—really after each baby, a new race distance should automatically be a new PR rather than comparing to a PR pre baby #3 since my mobility, free time, energy and priorities all change with such a major transformation as growing a new baby and adjusting to life with a new member of the family.

So here’s to a new perspective of absolving myself from comparing race times and (trying to) just run for the love of the sport and the appreciation of what it does for my mental and emotional health 🩷 And giving myself grace and peace in retiring from the half marathon racing era, at least until it can feel more like fun and less like work.
