In honor of the late Alderman Joe Pinnix, we are renaming the dog park at the Ivey M. Redmon Sports Complex to the Joseph L. Pinnix Jr. Memorial Dog Park.

Joe Pinnix was a deeply involved member of the community. Some of the roles through which he made a significant impact on the Kernersville Parks & Recreation Department include serving as a Kernersville Alderman for 12 years, serving as a past president and member of the Kernersville Historic Preservation Society, and serving on the Board of Directors for the Paul Ciener Botanical Garden. This renaming is especially meaningful because Joe was a strong advocate for the development of the Ivey M Redmon Dog Park, which opened in 2020 and quickly became a place he enjoyed visiting with Max and Cody.
