When Ms. Mila Auditioned, the judges saw a spark and fantastic lines. As an audience member, straight lines are pleasing to the eye. Ms. Mila is one of many sisters (All in whom dance at the studio!). She is very different than all of her sisters, and that’s important to Mila. It’s also very important to know that you’re unique because we celebrate that in dance. You are the only one in the world. Everyone can do the technical steps, but when you combine your personality with the technical elements, you’ve got something that is once in a lifetime. Everytime Ms. Mila takes the stage, it’s hard not to acknowledge the growth in every performance. Her uniqueness is just one of many reasons why I love working with her. Her determination is another. Like some of our other dancers, Ms. Mila likes things done correctly. So her frustration of wanting to dance like a trained professional , She’s learned to acknowledge her feelings, and uses time, practice, commitment, and dedication to push through, to come out stronger than before. This drive to be better is a gift to coaches. Ms. Mila chose a song for her solo that will leave you with goosebumps at this years recital. Her performance will leave you smiling and joyful!!! Congratulations on a great season Ms. Mila. I’m proud of you!

Describe her in one word? STRONG. There a lot of people that can memorize steps, but a dancer makes you feel something. Ms. Payton came to studio22mspa looking to grow for opportunities that were being offered to her. That and she came knowing exactly what she wanted to work for her dancing. As a choreographer I work with each dancers talents, interests, and energy. It’s important that I get to know someone to understand what they would be able to convey. With Ms. Payton, she came to me this year with a song. I hadn’t heard it yet, even though it was becoming quite popular. It was an instant YES. The songs vibe was right in the pocket of my style. It wasn’t just a song. She literally told me how she was feeling. The mood. The vibe. The style. She was feeling this song for a reason. It spoke to her. She’s been doing jazz previously and this year she was challenging us with a lyrical. Heavily counting on the mixtures of ballet and jazz. Ballet wasn’t our teams favorite. So she was going to have to work hard. That’s the thing about Payton. You don’t really have to tell her to work hard. She pushes herself to a fault. She demands herself to be as good as she believes she can be. That’s the spirit she promotes and reminds our team to be. It’s not about comparison. It’s about ourselves being better than yesterday. When it comes to hard work, and Payton’s relationship with her emotions, she brought her solo to life. This year wasn’t exactly what she thought it was going to be, and she used every feeling in her dancing. The judges at competitions complimented her on her beautiful story telling and true emotions. You only know emotions like that when you’ve lived through them. Payton gives you authenticity on and off stage. I see so many proud of her. Including her mom, her dad, her team, her friends and those that have seen her grow. There was a time last year where I had to have a talk with ms. Payton about being frustrated. She felt stuck. Seeing her today, dancing the way she does, makes me so proud of her. Congratulations Ms. Payton. You are so strong. You’ve overcome so much, in so many ways. I’m proud of you.

This hilarious little one!!!! What a joy to know and work with Ms. Jenavive . She is such a beautiful light. She takes her dance technique seriously, just as serious as her comedic personality. Ms. Jenavive has the mind of a true performer. In this photo she reminds of the legendary Lucille Ball. Her charisma, her energy, her dedication to her work will for sure get her to her Goals and Dreams. This year, Ms. Jenavive was hit with one of us dancers worst nightmares. A foot injury. She went to practices/rehearsals and learned every step and count sitting down. We talked about what I needed from her if she wanted to continue the season and compete. It was going to be such hard work for a little one. For anyone, actually! Her mom and I were convinced she could do it. She had a team behind her wanting her success. Ms. Shelby made sure Jenavive was retaining her choreography and making sure she was staying healthy, and happy. By no means was this journey easy. Or without issues. Show business is like that. To me, Competition team is like a little army. No soldier left behind. Mostly if that soldier has told me they know they can do it. I’ve got to trust my team just as much as they trust me. Ms. Jenavive stepped out on stage and grew into her own. She is a born performer. In a way, you will always get to see and know Ms. Jenavive. On and off stage. She’s a little star. We are honored to have witnessed such a comeback. Congratulations on a great season Ms. jenavive! Show them what you’ve got at Recital!!!

Graciela “Gracie” Gomez, is one of the strongest little ones I know. She has the mindset of a true professional and champion. Her little heart and feet have been aching for the chance to dance. I remember little Gracie in our “baby of mine” classes where she took classes very seriously. She has always been one to count on. I had an eye on her waiting for the chance to talk to her parents about an opportunity to join the Royal Stars Competition team. After a spot was given to her to join the team, she started rehearsals for her very first solo. I remember getting into the dance studio and telling Ms. Corina, this little one is like gold. She has sooo much potential. I awaited the judges to see what I saw. They did. She had a great season. She worked over the summer and matured into a strong little dancer. With the help of her mother who instills a healthy competitive mindset, rehearsing with her and putting rhinestones on every inch of Gracie’s costumes that the dance allows, she comes back every day into the dance studio, stronger than the day before. The maturity of this dancer lead her own team mates to make her the Dance Captain of her mini team. At such a young age, she has taken her role seriously. Gracie is one that I count on. One that I know LOVES to dance. This year, she started off with a bang receiving diamond at spotlight dance cup landing her in the overalls. Since then she’s remained on that path. This last competition at one of our favorite competitions, thunderstruck, Little Gracie earned herself a LIIIIGHTNNNNING GOOOOLD, and took 7th overall out of 28 dances!!! Yes. Folks. Gracie is a gem. She’s gold. She’s one of a kind. One thing about her, She’s stayed true to this year’s motto like the rest of her team. “We aren’t going to competition, we are the competition.” Congratulations Ms. Gracie!!! Your hard work has truly paid off.
