Sending love and gratitude to our veterans today! Thank you for your service! ❤️🇺🇸❤️
Veterans Day is the holiday for us to thank all of those that have served & are still with us. The service of our Veterans is undoubtably unique & different for each one. This can depend on branch of service, era, in-service job, active duty vs. guard/reserve, & deployments amongst many more unlimited variables that service brings. The purpose of this day is to acknowledge that service, & to simply say thank you. Although each Veteran had a different service experience, they all share a core commonality. They & their families gave something, or maybe it is better said that they give up something for their country. They gave up the summer after their senior high school year, or they gave up holidays, weddings, funerals, their kids 1st birthday or time at the lake. Besides time, many have given some aspect of their health & wellbeing.
We are very fortunate at the Veterans Service Office to honor our Veterans everyday by advocating for them. We do this in a number of ways & it can be as simple as explaining how a program works to an in-depth multi-year appeal with the VA. Either way, it is very easy to dive into this work when the person across the desk is a Veteran.
So, enjoy the day off for Veterans Day but also try to find a little bit of time to say thank you. If you have a Veteran in your life, encourage them to reach out to their Veterans Service Office, every county has at least one. Word of mouth is the number one way to get them the benefits that they have earned, & sometimes it takes that little reminder.
