"Joy is doubled in community and pain is cut in half." Practice tonight ended with the most important lesson they'll learn all year. It was about the family in a team. It was about being there for each other. It was about support. Coach Jeff is never at a loss for words at practice but tonight was different. He struggled to find words to describe the reason behind his lesson. The kids were strong for him and stepped in by saying "we know." They were reminded of how important they are to each other, their coaches and their families. We were able to put all of these things together by presenting Carter with his brother's high school jerseys thanks to the high school. Carter wiped his eyes and proudly put on the the white one. Then in true Carter fashion as he walked away he stopped to remind a friend and freshman football player that he "got a varsity jersey before him." No doubt this ability to make people laugh will be the perfect addition to the team this year.

It's official! Brian Joy, owner of Joy Painting, is our first financial supporter and he is covering the cost of this year's entry into the UNI-Dome and MORE! We are lucky to have another "Joy Boy" (and his family) on the team this year. Last year Brian provided after practice snacks, game drinks, car chalk, pizza on multiple occasions, and Keokuk spirit for the players and coaches each week. WE thank you Brian!
