Last week we had to make the very difficult decision to shut down Kent City FC for the coming soccer season and going forward. Our club has slowly lost teams, players, and volunteers over the last 3 years which has led us to today where we currently do not have any teams with enough players to continue. The club cannot sustain itself as designed as a non-profit without a strong volunteer base and growing or adding teams which is something we have been unable to do.
Our goal has always been to provide an affordable place for kids to play youth soccer at a competitive level while helping to develop them on and off the field. We have stuck to that mission by keeping our prices low, offering discounts, and competitively competing with much larger clubs in the WPL (formerly PSPL) across all of the Puget Sound often with significant success. We are proud of the teams and players that played with our club and those that have moved on to continue with some of the top clubs in the area.
Thank you to everyone that coached, served on the board, helped with the Blaze tournament, showed up to volunteer clean up events, got your kids to and from practice, carpooled to games, and stood in the rain to cheer on Kent City FC. It has been a pleasure to be a part of this club and serve its mission starting as a parent like most of you. We wish all of the players and families the best of luck and sucess with soccer and everything else. If anyone has any questions please reach out to me, and for one last time Go KCFC!
