A native of Pennsylvania, Colin Fafara brings more than 20 years of playing and coaching experience to STAR Hockey Academy. After playing AAA hockey in the United States, Colin focused his attention on coaching where he started at the minor hockey level and continued to grow and develop to the AA and AAA levels. Colin then spent two seasons as an assistant coach with Rowan University coaching at the ACHA collegiate level.
Prior to joining STAR, Colin was the head coach of the Pilot Mound Buffaloes U15 Prep team in the CSSHL and head goaltending coach of the academy for three seasons. In his three seasons with PMHA, Colin had numerous players drafted in the Western Hockey League and appeared in back-to-back Tier 2 Championship games.
Colin believes in a holistic approach to developing student athletes. His team’s values consist of hard work and accountability. Growing both on and off the ice is equally important and creating and maintaining a positive culture is what allows his players and teams to be successful. Development is the number one focus area for his players and the main focus of his coaching philosophy. Colin’s coaching style emphasizes attention to detail, discipline and creating and building habits that lead to team success.
Colin’s leadership qualities and ability to relate to players and help them take their goals to the next level is what has made him a successful coach and why he is excited to be joining STAR.
