Although the weather is still mighty fine here in the Bay Area, we are quickly approaching the darker, colder and wetter months of year. For some, they might dread this time of year, but here at Lift & Sprint we embrace it.
We are lucky enough to live in one of the best climates in the world AND we still get to train when the weather is a little rougher. I think this allows us to practice doing hard things. Training in and of itself is meant to be challenging. The whole point is to do something that pushes our limits just a bit so we can adapt to the stimulus and get stronger.
The same goes for the winter months. If you can leave your house when it’s cold and dark to come to training, does that make you more or less resilient? Will that make you able to do harder things in other aspects of your life? I would absolutely argue yes.
This is a particularly stressful time for, well I’ll say it, the whole country and my Lift & Sprinters have continued to come to class and use this complicated energy to blow off steam and keep working towards their individual fitness pursuits.
Many of you know I’m not a fan of New Year’s resolutions because I think that you can decide at any moment to do something differently.
This message is for those of you who may be waiting for the right time to start or re-start training. There is no right time. You just have to start. Something will always get in the way and you don’t have to commit to training everyday for it to make a huge difference to how you feel. Research has shown strength training just once a week improves your quality of life as you age (although I would prefer folks to build to 2-3 days per week😉.
Lets lower the bar. We’ve created a beautiful community of supportive folks we enjoy training outside with us and we would love to welcome you.
If you’ve previously trained with us and are thinking about coming back, we would love to offer you the week free trial again to see if it’s what you need at this particular moment in time.
We hope to see you out in the parks. Remember, you can start wherever you are right now. Beginners are our favorite 😘
