“Should I workout on vacation?”

If you are asking that question, chances are you have not been training consistently for very long.

If you are headed out of town for a few days, a long weekend, or even just a week, you can probably take some time off your “perfect program”.

If you have been consistently training, you are likely also going to be active on vacation.

You might go for some hikes, play in the water, hit a round of Kan Jam maybe even drop in at another CrossFit affiliate if there is one around.

Chances are though, your body will be just fine if you take the week to recover.

If your workouts are a point of stress for you on your vacation, let’s set up a time for you to meet with a coach and make sure your plan is optimized for long term results.

2026 Freakshow Podium

Congrats to everyone who put in so much hard work this year to come out and compete.

Thank you to all our volunteers that helped all weekend to put on a fun event for our local community.

Shout out to Michael Villanueva for helping to plan and put on this year’s event, as well as for running every dumb variety of Freaky DT we could think of😂

Here is to keeping local comps alive 🥂

“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9

We remember the brave men and women who ran toward danger to help others, putting their own lives on the line for complete strangers. Their courage reminded us of what we are capable of when we stand together.

For a moment, our differences disappeared, and we stood together as one nation.

May we never forget. 🇺🇸

The Freakshow Finals!

It’s gonna be up to a vote. Tune in to our stories Friday evening and vote on which variation you want to see the top athletes perform.

Last Man Standing A:
Every :90 until failure
6/4 Echo Bike Calories
2, 4, 6, 8…etc
Axle Bar Ground to Overhead(185/105)(105/65)

OR

Last Man Standing B:
EMOM until failure
R1: 7/5 Echo Bike cals
1 Axle Ground to Overhead
R2: 8/6 Echo Bike Cal
1 Axle Ground to Overhead
R3: 9/7 Echo Bike Cal
1 Axle Ground to Overhead

Increase weight and repeat

Weight will start at (185/105)(105/65) and will increase by 20 pounds for men and 10 pounds for women every third round at the calorie reset.

If a tie should occur on either event and two athletes go out in the same round, they will get a 1:00 rest and then go into max reps of axle bar deadlifts in the next minute segment at the weight they went out at.

Vote in our stories Friday night and come out Saturday to watch some awesome athletes compete!

Have you ever hopped on the scale or looked in the mirror and gone “how did I get to this point?”

You aren’t alone, and your plan shouldn’t be to go it alone either.

If I needed to lose 20 or more pounds, the very first thing I would do is find a coach to sit down with.

I’d want to have an honest conversation around where I’m at, how I got here and what I’m willing to do differently.

I would want honest feedback and a timeline that I can actually expect to see results in.

I would want to make a plan that fits my schedule and my needs. That could look like group training, personal training, work on my own at home, or a little bit of all of it.

I’d be looking for a plan to get on track with my lifestyle. Food, sleep and daily activity would be at the forefront of my mind.

I’d be looking for accountability. Check ins with my coach at least once a quarter, if not more like every month, to make sure that I’m on the right track would be a necessity.

I’d also be on the hunt for a community of like minded people to encourage me to keep going, even when my motivation has died.

This is the approach we take at 12 Stones.

Your first day in is not some super hard workout to show you how out of shape you are.

Your first day is making a plan.

From there on out, your coaches will help you execute on the plan, meet with you to keep you accountable and change the plan when necessary.

You will do this along side hundreds of other members who are all chasing there goals as well.

Join us tomorrow at 1:30 for our final Summer Hero Series WOD!

“Kody”
22 Rounds for Time (with a Partner)
9 Burpees
8 Ground-to-Overheads (95/65 lb)

Then, complete:
2,000 meter Row

This workout is dedicated to Kody Decker, who passed away on October 29, 2022 after taking his own life. He was just 22 years old.

Kody was one of four Navy sailors to commit su***de in less than a month of each other and all were assigned to the same Navy base in Norfolk, Virginia.

Kody was the son of Robert Decker, who is a member at CrossFit Krypton CrossFit Krypton (Chesapeake, Virginia, USA), which hosted a memorial workout to honor Kody and build a trust fund for his grandson Myles.

From the write-up of Morning Chalk Up, Robert proudly described his son as a bright, young individual and a “smart cookie.” Kody’s older brother Kyle enlisted in the Navy and Kody wanted the same thing. Robert said he and his wife acknowledged the risk of death when enlisting in the military, but never thought it would manifest the way that it did.

Robert explains that Kody was assigned to the USS Bataan, but was transferred to the Mid-Atlantic Regional Maintenance Center (MARMC) after checking himself into the Naval psych ward for depression in August.

Sailors are put in MARMC if they are on limited duty after suffering an injury or dealing with a mental health issue. He adds, based on what Kody had told him, he didn’t have enough mental health resources from MARMC and wasn’t given enough support from leadership to get through his depression.

Robert says he has a lot of anger, but a place that has helped him deal with his grief is CrossFit Krypton. The gym, owned by CrossFit legend Ben Smith Ben Smith, hosted a memorial workout for Kody that served as a fundraiser for his son Myles.

The rounds represent Kody’s life and the other numbers represent his birthday, September 8, 2000.
