Yoga is a practice, not a perfect

Consistent practice leads to consistent progress.Β 
s.tribe has been practicing yoga with me for about a year while juggling a full time job, a hand full of Littles,Β  a pesky pandemic, life and other responsibilities.

Her consistency has brought her to a beautiful flow. We meet 2x a week where she carves out 60 minutesΒ  to treat and reward herself with the practice of yoga.

Shout Out to all the women handling business and taking time for themselves.Β

Had an awesome time at Longwood Gardens today. That Monstera plant is over 100 years old! I was in plant heaven.

I stopped posting for a while because I felt that I needed the break. I wanted to reaccess the What and Why of my posts.

Was I speaking in my authentic voice? Was a playing the comparison game?
Was I living my purpose?
Was I having fun?

The answers were clear. I was putting a lot of pressure on myself to be like someone else. Sooo...New month, renewed focus - same me.

Happy International Day of Yoga 2021 and Happy Sunmer Solstice.

I began my yoga practice in 2008 when my twins were in pre-school. At the time I worked with special needs preschool children as an Occupational Therapy Assistant and needed a way to transition between the preschool population that I worked with and my boys.

I didn't seek out yoga, it just happened to be the class that was offered at a time convenient for me after work and in between picking up the kids from daycare.

I see now that my introduction to yoga was divine intervention.Β  I was hooked from the 1st downward facing dog. I loved the power and strength it took to assume and maintain the postures.

Although Power yoga is my favorite, over the years I have come to appreciate other forms of yoga like Yin, Restorative, Bikram, and Astanganga.

I started my yoga practice because of convenience,Β  but continued yoga because of the benefits:

β€’ YogaΒ improves strength, balance and flexibility

β€’ YogaΒ helps relieve back pain

β€’ Yoga improvesΒ  sleep

β€’ YogaΒ reduces stress and improves moods

β€’ Yoga improves breathing

Are there times that the things you say to yourself unkind and mean sometimes? If someone spoke to to you the way you speak to yourself would you remain friends?

Admittedly, there are times when my self-talk is less than kind and I have to catch myself I'm the moment and redirect my thoughts.

Kind words are important for growth.

Yesterday during my Wednesday Wellness tips IG LIVE, the topic was "Why Weight?" Importance of Weight Training.
During the live, a question was asked if yoga can be considered strength training.

My answer- yes. Yoga provides opportunities to control your body weight through stillness or movement as shown here, and will help to build strength and muscle growth.

This sequence of
1.Modified side plank
2.Plank rolls
3. 3-legged down dog to
4. Plank balance
Is definitely full body strength training .
