Since it is the start of a new season, I thought I would reshare our FAQs.

One important note: Since making this graphic I noticed an error. While I initially wrote that our hikes are for "ladies only," I should have mentioned that transgender women and nonbinary people are also welcome in our club.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to comment or send a message!

Hey Slow Folks, it's been a while.

The leaves are coming in, the trails are drying up, and I just finished finals week which means it's time to start planning hikes!

This year I will be planning three hikes on the Kenai Peninsula, one in June, July, and August. I am trying to slow my life down a bit this year so that is all I can commit to at this point. The schedule for these hikes will be out soon.

This community has grown more than I ever expected which just goes to show how much a community like ours is needed. We have members from all over the state, and I want everyone to have a chance to join a Slow Girls hike, so I am looking for some volunteers who want to lead hikes in other parts of the state. If you are interested in leading a hike, please message me with details about the hike you want to lead, as well as your outdoor and hiking experience. Please only reach out if you have a date and location that you can commit to and have enough hiking experience to confidently lead a group.

Stay tuned for hike announcements and possibly a merch drop...? Many exciting things to come!

Hey Slow Folks,

When I first started this group my intention was to create a space for women of all walks of life to gain confidence in the outdoors. In the beginning I was imagining how awesome it would be to have even 10-20 women in the group. To my surprise, this groups has grown to over 2,000 women in one year which is AMAZING, but also a larger scale than I had expected. I am just one person who is both a full-time student and a full-time social worker. This group has ended up being a lot more demanding than I had planned for and I feel that I may have bitten off more than I can chew with 6 hikes scheduled this summer.

That being said, I am going to have to cancel the Gold Mint hike that was previously scheduled for this weekend. Of course you are all welcome to hike, but I won't be able to lead this time.

I am going to brainstorm ways that I can manage the scale that the group has grown to and continue providing opportunities for us to gather. This may involve recruiting some other volunteer leaders, and I am open to other ideas as well. I just want to remind everyone that I am just one person and a volunteer so please be patient with me responding to messages etc.

TLDR: This group has gotten way bigger than I was expecting and this summer has gotten really busy. The Gold Mint hike this weekend is cancelled, but of course everyone is welcome to gather and hike informally if you would like. Thank you so much for your support of the mission and I can't wait to get outside with you all in the future.

I’m late posting this photo but we had SO much fun on our Tonsina Creek hike. It was a pretty perfect day.

If looking at this pic gives you FOMO then be sure to check out our Dew Mound Loop meetup this weekend!

Well Slow Folks, I need your help. We are scheduled to hike Dew Mound Look on the 13th, but I am not going to be able to make the trip from Kenai.

I really don’t want to cancel, so I am looking for a volunteer to lead this hike in my absence. I’m hoping to find someone who is a confident hiker and is willing to help and encourage others as needed. Bonus points if you are familiar with this trail.

Please message me if you are interested!
