From Jan. 2018 to Dec 2021 in just 3 years time, I was hit with a massive amount of chronic stress. From the sudden loss of my stepdad, to 2 layoffs and my fitness biz being shut down during the pandemic, my mom getting cancer, and my daughter's father (my ex of 13 yrs) passing away, and all while being a single mom of a teenager at the time - seriously, it was just too much.
Then...it all came to head when I was diagnosed with breast cancer in Dec 2021. Talk about a traumatic event!
As a began my healing journey in early 2022, I was told unanimously by all of my doctors that I needed to decrease my stress levels. Ok, Duh!
Unfortunately, right after my treatments ended, I had to move for the first time in 9.5 years and then 6 months later, I was laid off AGAIN in the Fall of 2022 in a company wide layoff!
MORE life stressors hitting me hard.
Even though it was scary getting laid off again, it was at the moment that I knew it was time to go ALL IN on my coaching business and really pursue my dreams.
Which is exciting, right?
Yes, it is. But...being an entrepreneur is also extremely stressful and about 6 months into it, my savings account was dwindling and I was feeling my stress rise to what felt like a deadly amount, as my anxiety went through the roof and my body couldn't calm down. I knew I needed to get help and I needed to do so fast because I was fully aware of the impact of stress on my health from my past lived experience.
It was then that I really started to dig into healing myself at the nervous system level. I knew I needed to get back into my body and help it get out of the 'fight or flight' state it had been in for so long.
Once I got control of it through somatic practices and I started to regulate my nervous system, I was then able to soar to new heights and pursue my dreams like never before, and feel amazing while I'm doing it! (Some of you have even watched me do this over the past year and half)
Now, it's time to teach others what I've learned and empower them with the knowledge and tools that have helped me so much, so they can help themselves too.
This is why I became a certified Nervous System and Somatics Coach. So I can help others unlock their full potential and reduce the impact of chronic stress on their own well being through Nervous System Fitness.
On Saturday, Nov. 2nd I will be facilitating an immersive (in person) 2 hour workshop in Vancouver, WA where I'll be doing just that. During this workshop you will learn foundational principals for mitigating your chronic stress, and strategies to regulate your nervous system. You'll also get to experience a full NEUROFITยฎ nervous system reset class too!
