The golf shot is just a chip shot…. But bigger.

Practice your short game and full swing with the feeling of a chip shot!

Nic made some huge strides yesterday. His swing is coming together but his contact just wasn’t consistent.

We worked several drills to get his arms extended through impact. He was struggling with the dreaded “chicken wing” after impact which caused his club face at contact to be off.

With repetition and shortening his swing he will be lowering his scores in no time. Keep it up!

Andy called and decided to commit to his golf game. He struggles with miss hits and distance.

We worked on getting him to swing through the ball and turn his body towards his target. This opens his swing and allows his body to do more of the work.

Watch his head from the left side to the right. You can see him starting to turn through to the target, use less arms, and keep his momentum moving forward.

Good work Andy! Let’s keep going!

High handicap - Mid handicap - Low handicap

Each player should have a different strategy for each shot. Understand your limitations and play for scoring.

It takes roughly 6,500 repetitions of a skill (while actively thinking of the movement) to create some autonomous action.

Repetition is a key learning aid because it helps transition a skill from the conscious to the subconscious.

Golf is hard.

Practice / practice / practice. Keep it up Jonathan!

Derek is one of my unique players. He has a pretty solid short game and good contact with short clubs but admittedly struggles with full swings.

We worked short game to ingrain rotating through the ball and getting that good contact feel. We also were able to advance into the club face at impact and how to change high shots vs low rolling shots.

Great work Derek. This lesson will translate into your full swings sooner than you think! Keep up the practice!

Connie stepped up and wanted to improve her consistency. She is high speed and just works hard to get things done.

I had to slow her down a little and recognize the set up, stance, big body movements, and feel of good impact.

Connie worked each individual swing to feel the movements. We worked on body sway and set up to get her hitting more consistently with more distance.

Good work Connie!

This was Jeremy’s first lesson. He has golfed for a few years but hasn’t quite put together the scores he wants yet.

Jeremy is athletic and quickly moved through different drills.

I noticed pretty quickly that he was crowding himself at set up. He was standing way too close to the ball and didn’t allow his swing to extend for a good impact position. We moved him back away from the ball and worked on adjusting his swing path a bit. Within a few swings he was hitting way more consistently.

You can actually hear the difference in club face contact between these two swings. Keep it up Jeremy!

Group lesson number two with Scott, Jake, and Kim. This time we worked on what solid contact feels like. “The golf swing just just a chip shot…. Only bigger.” So we learned how to feel the motion of a chip shot.

We worked through many drills and felt the club face with good contact. Great work men! It’s fun to watch you growing.
