Silver Mountain Ski Patrol

Silver Mountain Ski Patrol Mountain Safety and Rescue since 1967. We're a diverse group, passionate about serving our mountain community. And we have a freaking blast doing it.

Our well-trained team offers support as medical first responders, search and rescue, and hill safety. We are the ski patrol for Silver Mountain Resort and are composed of two membership arms; career patrollers and volunteer patrollers. Both arms have active membership with the National Ski Patrol. Career patrollers and some volunteer patrollers are also active members of the Association of Professional Patrollers.

Sad to say, but this is our last Pint Night of the season. 🍻

We’ve switched things up👀 has graciously welcomed Ski Patrol (and all you lovely folks) to come enjoy some great beer while supporting a great cause. All proceeds help go back into supporting our volunteer patrol. Avalanche dogs? Meet them? Oh yes they will be there as well!

Backcountry avalanche hazard is considerable, but if you plan to exit through the backcountry gates, please take a moment to scan the QR code posted on the signs. It links directly to for the latest conditions in the Silver Valley.

Make an educated decision before you go.

Nearly 20” in the last week and conditions are stacking up nicely. Come make some turns and lay down those fresh tracks.

Please respect all closures — thin coverage still exists in some zones. If it’s closed, it’s closed.

What does it take to become a Ski Patroller? 😎
It’s a year-long commitment filled with training, learning, and hands-on experience.

• Winter–Spring: Shadow days to see the job firsthand
• Summer: Applications, OEC signup, and prep
• Fall: In-person classes, on-hill training, and lift evacuations
• November: Written & practical exams
• Rookie Year: 12 duty days + rookie handbook = earn your red coat

Patrolling doesn’t stop there—ongoing training, BLS & CPR, plus advanced skills are part of the job.
