New idea! Thoughts? Raquet ball racket repurposed, rubber net, Paracord to attach to racket, and going to add a slip resistant rubber handle wrap. I didn’t estimate enough Paracord, but was able to finish off by adding some more. It has a lanyard for a magnet clip on the end of the handle as well as a loop to put your hand through in case you drop it when netting you fish. I will update with pics when handle wrap is done.

Not quite my normal King’s Forge “to do” list. But, when you have a trip to plan for you gotta do what you gotta do. I am still restoring a knife I found of my dad’s with his initials carved in it, and making my first recycled tennis/racquet ball racket fly fishing net (with a rubber net basket). If I like it, I might be selling some!!

''Tis the season (hunting season!)! From left to right:

-My first knife I ever made (handle is too short, but it is razor sharp, heavy, and has been on many hunts and dressed many animals)

-Second is my trusty all purpose (one of my first knives. I have abused it and it has held up amazingly!)

-Third is my dad's old folding belt knife (it is on his belt in so many of my childhood memories)

-Fourth is my new skinner (it is a project that has been on my bench for a while made from a different metal than I usually use. It is thinner, lighter, and will hopefully be put to the test this weekend!)

Illustration by Steve Sanford Hardly any hunter would criticize you for shooting a 3 1⁄2-year-old buck. But if you’re setting a higher bar for yourself and want to down a fully mature whitetail—one that’s 4 1⁄2 years old or older—you have to learn the subtle differences between big and bigger. Next…
