Ian Osteyee, director, started rock and ice climbing in 1983 as a young teen. He began leading and foraging for first ascents soon after, and had his first guide days in 1986! Since then Ian traveled the world, and worked for a few of other guiding companies before opening Adirondack Mountain Guides in 2003. Adirondack Mountain Guides is designed to be a small, high quality guide service, each da

y tailored to the clients want and needs. Climbing, learning to lead, learning the basics, pure fun, good climbing, and some laughs at the end of the day are the goal.

In 2003 I opened Adirondack Mountain Guides, and it’s been a blast. I’ve met and climbed with a great variety of interesting folks from around the world.
ADK MTN Guides has been a great way to balance my other life with a little, homegrown niche service. The last couple of seasons had me guiding less: Covid, other work, and my selfish desire to climb to the tune of my own personal whims.
Thank you to all of the great people that came up to climb with me, and the other guides. I’m taking a sabbatical of length unknown. Hope to see you out in the mountains somewhere.
