As of March 1, 2020, has banned the use of plastic bags thanks to the newly passed Bag Waste Reduction Law. New York is now one of just two states in the country to outlaw plastic bags.

It’s estimated that 23 BILLION plastic bags were used in New York alone last year. There is still so much more that can and will be done to protect and improve our eco-system, but this a great start.

It’s never easy to be one of the first to do anything. The progressive and proactive thinking behind this law is inspiring. Perfect Hike thanks all of those involved in making this a reality and setting a standard for the rest of our country ♻️

At one point there were more than 100 fire towers in . Thanks to the help of locally based initiatives many of these iconic structures were saved and restored. These fire towers have become a staple in the hiking community and attract visitors from all over ☀️⛰

Our ADK Pride hoodie pays homage to the unofficial Adirondack mascot, the black bears 🐻 Did you know there are estimated to be more than 6,000 black bears residing in ? 50%-60% of that population is found right here in the ! It’s our responsibility to keep their home free from human created waste and pollution. You can learn more about helping the ecosystem and even becoming Citizen Scientist for Black Bear Research at the New York Dept. of Environmental Conservation website today.
