The Mod got a new set of gears in yesterday. Thanks to Brad Skufca for the housing and Ben Hendricks for getting everything assembled.

With all the chaos/drama in racing these days, it makes it even more important to have competitors you can also count as close friends. We all want to beat each other, but we want to do it when everyone is at their best and we’re willing to help each other get there.

That’s one of the things I’ll always appreciate about racing. 🥓🏁

It’s been a rough season. Honestly, it’s been a rough year.

The week we got back from the Derby, I suffered a hemorrhagic stroke. The following Monday, Kyle was killed. Looking back, this season probably shouldn’t have happened for a lot of reasons.

But between a little selfishness and a whole lot of stubbornness, I needed to prove to myself that life wasn’t over. I wanted to prove I could still do the things I love, even if I pushed myself harder than I should have more than once.

I couldn’t have done it without the people around me. The support, encouragement, and the people who knew what racing means to me kept me going when it would’ve been easy to park it.

Mechanically, the season fought us every step of the way too. It felt like every time we fixed one problem, another showed up. I just kept forcing it. Maybe it was the fates reminding me there’s more to life than racing and trying to force me to step back. I even postponed a biopsy of what they believed caused my stroke because I wasn’t ready to step away from what feels like my only real hobby. Probably not my smartest moment as an adult.

Now that the Super Stock is back together and running again, I feel a little better about the decision I’ve been putting off. Nobody wants to end on a low note.

So, the Super Stock will be going up for sale.

The Modified is still getting finished, and it will still hit the track. I’m not calling it a bucket list item, it’s just on the to-do list. I started at Colorado National Speedway in a Modified. Maybe it’s only fitting that, whenever the day comes, I finish where it all started.

This isn’t quitting.

It’s just a pause. Plus I still got a Vic in the field.

Race recap… and I apologize, it’s a long one.

Last weekend we picked up a new-to-me crate engine, and somehow I managed to get the 7x Super Stock back together during Cheyenne Frontier Days. Huge thanks to Ben and Janae for coming to my rescue and helping at the track this evening.

I also want to thank Brad for checking on me throughout the day, and even recruiting others to help when I needed it. It meant a lot. And to all my competitors and friends who took time out of their own race day to ask if I was doing okay, thank you. I can’t put into words what it means.

We didn’t qualify where we wanted, but I was just happy to make the show on PB&T Bank Super Stock Night.

The first feature… well, the car was BAD loose. I looped it early and spent the rest of the race with the best seat in the house, the infield.

Before the second feature, Ben made some changes and handed me a car that was incredible on the outside. I was able to chase and hang with drivers who have a lot more talent than I do… at least until my talent ran out. 😂

After a caution I picked up a little damage, lost some ground, and with transponder issues I’m not even sure where we officially finished. But I know we weren’t last, and we finished on the lead lap.

At the end of the day, that’s a win in my book. I got laps, the new engine stayed together, made some progress, handed out a bunch of hero cards and Bacon stickers, and got to spend another night doing what I love.

There’s no doubt in my mind that drugs would of been cheaper. 🥓🏴

We had planned on keeping the Modified under wraps until it was all lettered up, but with the luck we’ve had in the Super Stock this year, we figured we’d catch some flak if we suddenly showed up with it.

The plan was to keep running the Super Stock and put a guest shoe in the mod. But we may be at a crossroads, as the Super Stock may not be able to continue.

Once we figure out which direction we’re headed, you’ll be the first to know. 🥓🏴

We made it to the track, got unloaded, and for the moment I’m not laying under the car questioning my life choices.

Let’s see what kind of adventure the 7x has planned for us tonight. 🥓🏁

Blown engine? Bad MRI results? Neither is enough to park us for the season.

The 7x Super Stock got a heart transplant and will be back where it belongs this weekend — on the track at Colorado National Speedway!

We’re not done yet! 🥓🏴‍☠️

We knew what we were going to find, but actually seeing it hurts more than expected. I had no intentions of pulling the motor or starting the process of moving forward today. I wanted to spend the day moping and feeling sorry for myself.

But that’s not how this team works. We don’t quit. We dig in, get to work, and figure out the next step. 🥓🏁
