Sam was one of those who stood up for what he believed and put himself on the line, literally. Walking from the main highway and up the OiOi road to hunt in the State forest preserve up Mauka. His protest resulted in an arrest and a court case of which he won.

I hope the people of today will remember the sacrifices of those of yesterday that kept the doors open for generations to come.

Sam was one of those unsung Heroes!

ISLAND CRAVE SHAVE ICE will be keeping Kohala cool during the Swim Team CARWASH this SUNDAY from 10-2 at the OLD SUNSHINE HARDWARE Bldg in KAPAAU (home of Holy Smokes BBQ). Proceeds will be donated to the swim team, so please come share the ALOHA, talk story, wash da' car, and support Kohala's young athletes!

TWO LA'A SWIMMERS MAKE THE STATE TEAM! Special congratulations to Sydney Wiernicki and Kyle Weyrick who achieved Zone Times this season!They will be representing the State of Hawaii in Salt Lake City, Utah at the Western Zone Championships August 10-13.

Team LA'A represented North Kohala today at the Annual Hapuna Rough Water Swim with all swimmers finishing in the top 40 of 250 swimmers. Excellent results!!!
