This is the first portion of a course taught as a basic self-defense introduction. Typically this is taught as a free introduction course in self-defense, lasting 2-3 hours depending on size of audience and other variables.
This course is based on science. Techniques rely on things like leverage instead of muscle, and reflex response vs pain compliance.
All the techniques are based off of Taika Seiyu Oyata's principles.

The book is entitled Women's Self-Defense and Other Myths as a play on the fact that gender has nothing to do with who can benefit from self-defense, and that a large portion of techniques, statistics and other things taught at most of these type of seminars is perpetuated myths and fiction.
