The KC Golden Gloves is dedicated to amateur boxing as a way to develop discipline, respect, and wellness in its athletes and empower the next generation of leaders and citizens in the KC area. Vision Statement:

Kansas City Golden Gloves would like to congratulate Full Throttle Fitness on the grand opening of their new 20,000-square-foot sports performance facility in Wyandotte County!

Home to Full Throttle Fighters Boxing Club, this first minority-owned sports training facility in the area is creating opportunities for athletes of all ages through boxing, strength & conditioning, personal training, youth development, and community outreach.

Join them Saturday, June 6 from 2:00 PM – 5:00 PM for their Grand Opening Celebration featuring special guests, local vendors, food, giveaways, and more!

John Alcala is a highly respected Kansas boxing coach, mentor, and community leader with decades of experience in the sport. A longtime figure in the Topeka boxing scene, he formerly operated Alcala’s Boxing Club and now leads Three Shields Boxing Academy in East Topeka. Alcala has played a key role in developing regional Golden Gloves talent, serves as a board official for Missouri Valley USA Boxing, and is recognized for empowering youth through discipline, mentorship, and boxing. In addition to his impact in the ring, he has also served as a Kansas House of Representatives member and community advocate.

From traveling with athletes to regional and national tournaments to building strong youth mentorship through boxing, Coach Smitty’s impact reaches far beyond the ropes.
