This 66” wide behemoth checks a lot of boxes in my woodworking journey.

✔️ first commissioned piece
✔️ largest piece to date (66” long!)
✔️ first time using prefabricated legs and they look amazing
✔️ first time painting and not using India ink

This is easily my favorite project so far, not only because it’s a true show stopper, but mostly because it was a collab between myself and the person who I built it for. A true custom piece with a specific purpose. That’s pretty rad if you ask me. 😌

It’s the end of an era… is now Genesis Health Club Power & Light.

I have loved being a part of such a great company over the last few years so of course it’s a bitter sweet moment making the transition to Genesis. I think that Onelife has always had a positive image in the community with an all inclusive culture offering something for everyone. The club has always been a bright, welcoming, and comfortable space for all types of athletes and fitness levels to come together and find their niche.

My only hope moving forward is that we can continue to nurture the culture that we created and continue to improve as a whole, members and employees alike. We aren’t a community solely represented by a logo or branding. We’re a family who is unwavering in our attitude, our focus, and our determination to be better today than we were yesterday.

Let’s continue to grow as a family and a community to make Power & Light the best damn Genesis Health Club this Kansas City has ever seen.

The latest project to come out of the workshop… I think I need to start naming these guys. What do you think this one should be called?

This was my first time choosing a finish other than a traditional wood stain and it actually turned out way better than I expected! To achieve this ebony color, I actually dyed the wood with India ink. Who knew? The base was another first for me. For this one I joined the pieces together in an x shape under the cabinet so that the legs are angled outward and not just parallel with the front. This creates a more interesting tapered look especially with the contrasting walnut color.

Happy Friday friends! I hope you all absolutely crush your workouts today and enjoy the weekend. 💪🏼

Here’s a little superset I’ve been incorporating into my arm days to get thicker and fuller biceps. Aiming for 21 reps, I do 7 supinated curls, 7 pronated curls, and finish with 7 hammer curls. 3-4 sets is all you’ll need to cap off a solid workout. Give it a shot!

As some of you may already know, I recently picked up a new hobby of woodworking and furniture building!

Building furniture shares a commonality with bodybuilding in that the goal is to construct something not only functional, but aesthetic and beautiful.

I have really been enjoying the process and seeing my vision come to reality in these pieces.
