It’s not very often that we are racing on Saturday but after a clean Tuesday night last week we trecked back to Millbridge Speedway last night.

Overall Ashton had another good night. After an early pill draw he managed to hang on to qualify P12 out 27 karts.

He started third in his heat and quickly found himself challenging for the lead but wasn’t able to cleanly complete the pass. He’d finish the six lap heat race in P3, locking him into the A main.

After a gear change for the A main Ashton started to move forward right away from his P12 starting position. After lap 1 he had already moved into the sixth position. He attempted to pass two karts in the same corner by taking them 3 wide in the middle. The hole closed up a bit and Ashton spun himself, bringing out the only yellow flag of the race. Restarting from the back of the pack hurt the opportunity for a top 5 finish but in the final handful of laps Ashton was able to earn an eight place finish and was trying to pass for seventh place.

Had another good Tuesday night at the Bridge. Ashton qualified P3 out of 18 young racers. He followed that up by finishing P2 in his heat which locked him into the A main starting in the 6th position.

Ashton drove a decent race and at one point was passing for third when things got crazy. The entire field was bunched up with karts and their young pilots somehow (mostly) avoiding disaster. At the end of the race Ashton crossed the line in sixth position.

Hate that Mother Nature isn’t cooperating! We were so excited to go to another track that’s trying to run wing karts. Hopefully we are able to run there sometime later this year!

AUGUST 15th CANCELLED:

Facility is wet. Rain chances getting worse. We’ll try to fit the wing karts and pro ducar races into another show.

It was a messy night but we got to race!

A decent pill draw sent us out near the end of the Cadet field for qualifying but during our run the rain started to fall. After a couple rain showers and one wrecked Subaru track officials announced that we would all have another attempt at qualifying.

We locked into the A-main after qualifying 4th out of 24 cars. When the green flag dropped Ashton quickly moved forward but contact while racing for 2nd made him let off the gas pedal and fall back to 4th position. It took him several laps but he was able to regain 3rd place and started to close in on 2nd but ran out of laps.

Despite the rain delays and not having heat races it was still a strong night with lots of positives and a few opportunities to improve.
