Long Try Racing

Long Try Racing We will be racing at both Kalamazoo Speedway and Springport Mid Michigan Speedway. The Long Try Racing team was established in 2011.

MaKenna Long got behind the wheel as a rookie driver at the age of 6. In her first year she received rookie of the year and most improved driver. In her second year as a Jr Honda driver she finished the season 2nd in points for Friday nights and 5th in points for Saturdays. She also won the Jr Honda 100 lap feature to bring home a 5 ft trophy. The start of her third year she decided she was ready

to try racing two different series. She finished the year in the Jr Animal division 3rd in points on both Tuesday and Friday. In the Jr Honda division she finished 6th on Friday nights and 4th on Saturdays. Going into the fourth year she will be moving up to the Sr Animal division and either Sr Honda or Lt 160. We are looking forward to seeing her continue to improve and enjoy the sport she loves. In 2013 little sister Alyssa Long was ready to get behind the wheel and follow in her sister’s footsteps. She entered the red rookie class at the age of 5 and came home with 3 feature wins and rookie of the year. She is looking forward to starting the new season in the blue rookie class and working her way up to a competitive class. We are so happy our girls have found a sport they love and we can enjoy as a family. We spend many nights at the track from spring to fall and we couldn’t imagine being anywhere else.

It's the first Fast Friday of the season!!
Unfortunately after practice last week we realized Alyssa car had a crack in the bellhousing. We were not able to get it fixed in time for opening night at Kalamazoo Speedway so she will have to sit this week out . We will still be there cheering everyone on. Good luck to all the drivers! 💜💚🧡🏁🏁

No racing for us tonight. Both girls decided to take the night off. We will be back at it tomorrow with Alyssa at LKS in the morning and Kenna at Springport in the evening.

Well last night just wasn't our night. The car was very off during qualifying. After a few adjustments it was heat race time. Car seemed to be better but 3 laps in she broke out of her time(which means she went to far under her qualifying time) and got black flagged. Come feature time we thought we the car was fixed but not so much. After 2 spins and a pit stop to try and make adjustments she decided to just pull in and call it a night. Driver was disappointed but better to pull off the track then to wreck yourself or someone else .

Post race Kenna meet a young lady who wanted to have her picture taking with a girl racer .The little girl was so excited! While waiting in the pay out line Kenna saw the girl back in the pits. Kenna ran to the trailer to grab an autograph card . The little girls face lit up when she handed it to her . I think she has a new fan for life :)
That little girl didn't care that Kenna didn't finish the race all she cared about was meeting her new favorite racer. Drivers just remember no matter how bad of a day you had on the track there is probably some little kid watching you and looking up to you.So remember to keep your emotions in check.
