ly one in the state of Hawaii. Stacie Knight is also a 4th degree Black Belt in Isshin-Ryu Karate. Most importantly we care about you, your goals, and your ohana. What Makes Isshin-Ryu Karate Unique? On January 15th, 1956, Master Tatsuo Shimabuku, the founder of Isshin-Ryu Karate, officially named his style. He combined the Okinawan culture and its philosophies with techniques from traditional Okinawan styles such as Shorin-Ryu, Goju-Ryu, and Kobudo (weapons). In doing so, he created a unique style of karate that is an extremely efficient form of self-defense. It maximizes body mechanics to produce powerful and fluid techniques. These unique body mechanics are precisely why people of all ages and experience levels can easily learn and effectively use the style in real life, self-defense situations. Our dojo also offers qualified instruction in other forms of martial arts such as: Largo Mano Escrima, Sensei A.J. Advincula’s Karate-Do, Hindiandi Gung Fu, Knife fighting and various other Okinawan weapons katas. Services
In addition to our regularly scheduled classes we offer demonstrations and seminars specialized for your unique organization. Whether it is for college students, women, homeschool groups, school assemblies, youth groups, police hand-to-hand, military combat or your business team building conference, Knight’s Isshin-Ryu Karate & Kobudo has a class for you!

5/10/26 We should all savor the moments we have with our Sensei. We never know when its our last lesson.

One of the hardest truths in martial arts is realizing that no teacher stays forever. Every dojo eventually reaches the moment where the person who carried its knowledge, discipline, and spirit steps away, leaving the next generation responsible for preserving what was taught. That is why traditional karate placed such importance on respect and repetition—not just to create skilled fighters, but to ensure the art could survive beyond a single lifetime. A great teacher does more than demonstrate techniques; they shape character, values, and the culture of the dojo itself. When that presence is gone, students are left with one final question: were they only trained to follow instructions, or were they prepared to carry the legacy forward themselves?
