🌊🐟 PROTECT THE BAY. RESTORE THE FISHERY. PERPETUATE THE CULTURE.

Grab a partner, grab your paddle craft, and come help take care of one of the places we love most!

The 2026 Kailua Bay Invasive Species Removal Tournament is happening:

📅 Sunday, October 4, 2026
📍 Kailua Beach Park Boat Ramp
⏰ 7:00 AM Check-In | 8:00 AM Start
🏆 Lunch & Awards following the tournament

This isn’t just a competition — it’s an opportunity for our paddling, fishing and ocean communities to come together and make a real impact on the health of Kailua Bay.

🎣 Target invasive species:
🐟 Ta‘ape
🐟 To‘au
🐟 Roi

Teams of 2 will head out by paddle craft — wa‘a, surfski, kayak, paddleboard or rowboat — and harvest invasive fish by hook & line or spearfishing. Winners are determined by the number of invasive fish removed, not weight.

🏆 Prizes for the top hook-and-line and spearfishing teams
🎁 Giveaways & random prizes
🍽️ Lunch included
✊🏽 And of course… a little jan ken po to finish the day!

💲 $40 per team + ACA insurance fee
⚠️ Registration is limited to 50 teams and there are NO late entries, so get your crew together and sign up early!

Whether you paddle, fish, dive, or simply care about the health of our ocean, this is what community stewardship looks like.

Balance the Bay. Restore the fishery. Perpetuate the culture. 🌊🌺

👉🏽 Register & see the complete tournament rules through Kanaka Ikaika Racing Association.

🚨 DUKE KAHANAMOKU DISTANCE RACES — DATE CHANGE 🚨

NEW RACE DATES: AUGUST 22 & 23, 2026 🌊🛶

Due to the severe weather conditions forecast across Hawaiʻi from Tropical Storm Lala, the decision has been made to move the Duke Kahanamoku Distance Races to next weekend.

🚺 Women’s Race: Saturday, August 22
🚹 Men’s Race: Sunday, August 23

The National Weather Service is currently forecasting heavy rainfall, strong and gusty winds, possible thunderstorms, flash flooding and hazardous ocean conditions across the islands this weekend. Oʻahu could experience particularly heavy rain and strong winds Saturday into Sunday as Lala passes near the state. (National Weather Service)

The ocean is our playground, but we also have tremendous respect for its power. The safety of our paddlers, coaches, es**rt boat crews, and volunteers will always come first.

Please use this weekend to prepare, stay off the water when conditions are unsafe, secure your canoes and equipment, and take care of one another.

We look forward to welcoming everyone back for a safe and exciting weekend of racing on Saturday August, 22 & Sunday August, 23.

Stay safe and we’ll see you on the water next weekend! 🤙🏽🛶🌊

Join your teammates, family, and friends as we spend a couple of hours making a positive impact on the beach we proudly call home.

📍 Meet by the Lanikai Canoe Club canoes on the beach
🕘 9:00–11:00 AM
🧤 Gloves, buckets, and collection bags will be provided.
💧 Just bring a water bottle and sunscreen!

Every piece of trash we remove helps protect our marine life, preserve the beauty of Lanikai, and demonstrates the pride we have in our club and our community.

We hope to see YOU there! 🌺🌊💚

🌺🛶 Lanikai Canoe Club Canoe Blessing

Join us on Saturday, June 6th at 9:00am in Lanikai Park as we come together to honor one of our most meaningful traditions.

This special morning is an opportunity to give gratitude for the ocean, our wa‘a, our safety on the water, and the incredible community that paddles beside us throughout the season. 🌊
