Kona Sea Salt is located on the Kona coast of Hawaii, the “Big Island” in the Hawaiian island chain. We pride ourselves in producing a renowned sea salt, which continues to earn accolades from top executive chefs and fitness experts for its delicate flavor and rich trace mineral content. Kona Sea Salt is entirely hand tended from the moment our deep seawater arrives on site. After about four weeks of unhurried evaporation within our closed drying systems, the bright Hawaiian sun transforms the seawater into our characteristic, pure white Kona Sea Salt crystals. The crystals are gently scooped into buckets and wheeled to covered wooden hoppers. Here, the remaining moisture is drained from the salt creating a concentrated brine called nigari*, or bitterns. Once it’s fully dried, the salt is patiently inspected to exacting standards, then packaged for sale. Kona Sea Salt destined for our retail product line is oven-dried on site in accordance with State of Hawaii health requirements, then labeled and packaged by hand for shipping. Whether it's a single grinder, or full pallets shipped by sea, we make certain that every order of Kona Sea Salt arrives as quickly and affordably as possible from our Kona production site. We are not open to the public, but sell our goods online. Please visit our website to learn more about our products or make a purchase today!

900 years beneath the surface?? Ever wonder if that is true? And how we know? Swipe to find out ➡️

Scientists at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute actually measured it. They used radiocarbon measurements from water collected from our 670 meter (2,198 feet) deep seawater pipeline. It is an analysis of dissolved inorganic carbon that indicates when deep ocean water was last to the surface, how long it has been removed from direct contact with the atmosphere.

It traveled for 900 years in deep sea currents

What exactly is Deep Ocean Magnesium? It is made right here at our site on the Hawaii Ocean Science Technology Park at the Kona Salt Farm from waters 2,200 feet deep off the Kona Coast. We bring this pristine and naturally cold water to our working salt farm where it slowly concentrates under the Kona sun. As salt crystalizes, magnesium remains in the mineral rich liquid that is left. That liquid is rich in magnesium chloride, a highly soluble and well absorbed form of magnesium. This is the foundation of our Deep Ocean Magnesium products, our Drops to be added to water, mist for topical use and soaks. One remarkable resource, two wonderful products.
And unlike other magnesium products, you can actually visit the source.
Come see how it is made at the Kona Salt Farm and taste it. We are open daily from 9-4, visit our Farm Store (no tour required) or come for a guided tour.

It was a really special morning at the Salt Farm as we gathered to bless our new spaces and projects as ‘Ohana. We are deeply grateful to Kahu Danny Akaka and Anna for their guidance and for leading us in this meaningful Hawaiian blessing. It was an opportunity to come together with gratitude for this place and our growing team and the responsibility that comes with it.
Mahalo Kahu Danny and Anna for creating this beautiful moment!
