WINNER WINNER!!!
MAN, what a weekend it was!!!
We moved remi up to Jr2 earlier this month after the summer break. This weekend was his 2nd weekend in the class, getting used to the horse power, and making a couple of adjustments.
Friday night he did pretty good. Started 6th, ended up 4th out of 7 karts, by .022 seconds, it was a pretty hammer down track. And not alot we can do about that.
Saturday night was the night!!!
Remi would start his heat race in 3rd. After a couple of bad starts by the leader, they swapped positions, so he got to start on the pole. Remi led every lap of the heat race, and picked up the heat race win!!! Lining him up for the pole position for the feature.
This kid led every lap of the feature!!! He would get a good lead from 2nd place and cautions were coming out left and right! 9 cautions I believe it was, which took a total of 60 laps around the track. Remi was pumped, focused, and strong willed. Kept his lines perfect, throttle and steering smooth, and was a ROCKET!!! After 60 laps he would take the checkered flag in 1st place!!!
The smile on this kids face, when he pulled off the track, said it all!!! We are so happy for Remi, and this big accomplishment for him!!!
Dad-eh did ok.
Blew up the clutch last race weekend, and had used a back up for Friday night, which was a different gear.
Got a disc clutch from PC Motorworks to run on Saturday so I could get back to my original gearing. We ended up having a few predators join our race this weekend, having a full field of 13 karts. Heat race the kart was a little loose, and gear was still a little off, because I had switched to smaller tires. So I was running the middle. Had to hit the brakes a bit to avoid wrecks and whatnot. Finished 5th out of 7, not the greatest. Started 11th in the feature. Figured I'd throw the kitchen sink at the kart, with Ben's assistance. And boy did it change. Went 11th to 4th, and ended up finishing 5th. Clutch was great, a little different drive style compared to a regular drum clutch, found some speed, and we will look forward to making progress for the next weekend!!
