THATS A WRAP! Our Summer 2026 season is over, and we are now closed for the month of September for indoor range maintenance and prep! Stay tuned for updates regarding our Fall/Winter days/hours and we will see you all in October!

TOMORROW, SATURDAY 8/15 is our last outdoor range cleanup of 2026! Unfortunately someone came and destroyed the main bridge to accessing the trail, making it unsafe for users. Please join us and help us make the trail accessible again for all archers, hikers, and users!

WE NEED YOUR HELP! CBJ is considering eliminating the sales tax exemption for non-profits including the Juneau Archery Club!

The CBJ Assembly is seriously considering a proposal to require nonprofits such as the Juneau Archery Club to collect sales taxes on the classes, range day passes, and memberships that we sell. These are the ONLY ways we currently make revenue at the club and pay for materials, rent and costs for maintaining the club.
The Juneau Archery Club is already facing increased costs due to increased fees for use of CBJ facilities and increased costs of archery supplies and materials such as targets, arrows, and bows. All of our board members and range masters are unpaid volunteers, and so the proposed change to require JAC to collect sales taxes and further increase the cost to participants in JAC range days or events. Please contact the members of the assembly or show up to the next assembly meeting on Monday, August 17th at 5PM to oppose this proposal. Quick action is necessary to prevent the assembly from taking passing this change and negatively impacting the club. We hope you'll join us, submit comments, or help spread the word!

Thanks to all the volunteers who came out to help us at our July 18 work party at Juneau’s outdoor archery field course!

With the help of 14 volunteers we replaced the handicap-accessible target backstop, repaired two other targets, rebuilt a stairway and short section of boardwalk, cleaned up trash, and weed-whacked the entire trail. Earlier in the week, another volunteer crew removed downed trees that were blocking Target 2 and cleared a plugged culvert that had caused flooding and erosion at the accessible target.

We’ll have one more work party day this summer, on Saturday, August 15. We’ll be rebuilding sections of boardwalk and fixing up more of the targets. Mark your calendar now and come join us if you can.

The outdoor field course is open to all, free of charge, 7 days a week. Grab your bow go! Check out the work we’ve already done to upgrade and maintain the trail and targets. (Leave your bow at home and instead bring your work gloves on August 15! )😊

And come say hi during our indoor shooting hours at the Juneau Shooting Complex at 5670 Montana Creek Road, Wednesdays and Thursdays, 6:30 to 8:30pm through August. We have equipment to loan and offer free introductory instruction to get you started right.

Join us any time from 9AM - 2PM at the end of Montana Creek Rd (about a half mile past the Hank Harmon r***e range) to help maintain the outdoor archery trail! No experience or supplies necessary but please wear appropriate trail work gear and there will be plenty of food and beverages to keep you energized and hydrated! We're grateful for volubteers like you to help keep our range open!
