The Sweetheart Smackdown was the best tournament of the season for the girls of Twin Rivers. Not because of wins or losses or how they wrestled but because of the inclusion it gave to these young ladies. I seen so many different sides of these young ladies come out that I have never seen before. This tournament brought out girls to wrestle who never thought of wrestling. It brought out the fight in these wrestlers that only a room full of women can bring. As a coach, I think there should be all girls tournaments like this regularly for the reasons of what it brings out in them. They are the main focus, they are the topic and it made a difference in them. I seen girls that never won a match come out with full confidence and win not only one but all of their matches. There is nothing like seeing young ladies confident, seen, and respected! Thank you to Tombey Mat Club from the bottom of my heart for putting this tournament together! Very grateful and thankful for this past weekend.

Yesterday our 6U and 8U kiddos wrestled at the first day of state in Redmond! We had two placers, Tucker Reynolds with 4th place and Aly France with a 6th!

These kids wrestled their hearts out, we saw some hard brackets and a lot of these kids had the most difficult matches of their season. 🤼‍♂️🤼‍♀️

31 kids registered and all of them have put in the work! It’s not about wins or losses but about the effort put forth. I assure you, these kids don’t lack the effort part! Let’s go Twin Rivers!

Weight cutting is not an answer! Especially before high school. These kids don’t need smaller numbers, they to drill more on better positions. It’s ok to not win at a young age. Teaching these kids that smaller numbers equals better chance is a mental digression. Healthier kids at a stronger weight is always the answer and will always be the answer. Drill baby drill no trump 😆
