Wise words from the wanderer of the Mojave Mr. Travis Puglisi!!!
***Public Service Announcement***
We're all hearing whispers. The cause for the hush is hope. Hope that Spring 2023 will be as audacious a bloom as New Normal will allow for.
There's wariness in those whispers as well. Fear is the counterbalance to the hope. Fear of crowds...mindless zombie crowds...tramping flowers, parking in the middle of the road, taking so many selfies we fear their brains may explode.
Fear their brains might explode? Why, that's the only way you can kill a zombie, so maybe death by selfie isn't so bad after all.
I kid ;)
The announcement part of the post is this...
If you want to help minimize impact, augment education, bolster the local economy, and support life-altering interactions with the desert environment, please help spread the word about locally owned and operated guide services and education-oriented organizations.
Funneling as many people as possible through educated, vetted, and caring guide services helps provide balance to the mayhem that spring can bring to the region.
Wandering Mojave Hiking Services, like most of the other entities in the region, will likely hit maximum capacity as the bloom season progresses.
Here are a few other guide services to consider..
Cliffhanger Guides
Fine Earth Photography by Mitch Miller
Joshua Tree National Park Association
Joshua Tree Adventures
Joshua Tree Excursions
California Climbing School
These are just a few. Certainly, there are more, but I don't know them all.
If you are a CUA holder, live locally, and want to help lighten (illuminate) the load of people wanting to be near nature this coming spring, please speak up and I'll edit the post to include a tag for you.
Additionally...
This link lists all of the guide services that are current holders of Conditional Use Authorization permits from the Department of the Interior and Joshua Tree National Park.
