Two matches. Six sets. Zero doubts. 🏐💥

The 2026 Gorilla Volleyball Classic tipped off Wednesday night in Pittsburg, and the local squads didn’t waste any time taking care of business.

Missouri Southern set the tone early, sweeping Southwestern Oklahoma State in straight sets to grab the tournament’s first win.

Then came the home team.

Undefeated Pittsburg State took the floor for its home opener and picked apart Truman State from the opening serve, sealing another straight-sets rout to keep a clean sheet on the season.

Action rolls on through the weekend at John Lance Arena. Who are you coming out to watch?

Seneca dropped the opening frame against McAuley Catholic, then took complete control of the floor.

The Lady Indians stormed back to win three straight sets Thursday night, putting away the Warriors 21-25, 25-17, 25-19, 25-22 to move to 2-0 on the young season.

Amelia Crane led the charge with a triple-double, posting 13 kills, 15 assists, 11 digs, and a block kill. Finley Pyatt anchored the offense alongside her, dishing out 17 assists to go with 16 digs, seven kills, and two aces.

Carthage shook off a slow start on the road Tuesday night, rallying from an early deficit to take down Carl Junction in four sets.

London Shepard provided the spark for the Tigers, drilling a kill straight through the middle to swing the momentum Carthage’s way for good.

Carl Junction answered with a late push of its own behind Halleigh Huffman’s shutdown block at the net and a heavy spike from the outside by Maddie Huffman, but Carthage stood tall down the stretch to close out the win.

Neosho boys soccer picked up a solid road win Tuesday night, beating Carl Junction at Bulldog Stadium to improve to 2-1 on the season.

The Bulldogs dropped to 1-2 as they work to replace several key all-district seniors who graduated last spring. Neosho took advantage, setting the tempo on the road and putting away its second victory of the young fall campaign.

A tight first set slipped away, and Neosho never recovered.

After battling back to tie things at 24-24 behind clutch blocks at the net, Neosho watched Cassville steal the opener on a back-breaking service ace. The visiting Wildcats ran with that momentum, handing Neosho a straight-set sweep (24-26, 19-25, 16-25) on Tuesday night.

Next up: Neosho looks to bounce back at home against the Gentry Pioneers.

You couldn’t ask for a better home opener if you're a Carl Junction fan.

Monday was a dogfight, but the Bulldogs pulled it out, edging past Webb City 7-5. That puts CJ at 1-0 out of the gate.

Webb City, though, has hit a bit of a rough patch. They dropped to 0-1, and since that big seven-game win streak ended back last season, they've gone 2-3. You can tell they're still trying to find their rhythm, but the good news for both teams is that Tuesday brings some very winnable matchups.

Carl Junction gets Glendale at 4:30. Glendale is riding a three-game skid right now, so CJ has a real shot to keep the momentum rolling.

And Webb City goes up against McDonald County at 5:00. McDonald County has dropped four straight, making this the exact bounce-back spot the Cardinals need to get things back on track.

Big afternoon of ball ahead. Who are you taking today?
