Busy day today for our high schoolers! They represented their school and JCC exceptionally well!
Grace Hyneman, Ben Hyneman, Mary Beth Dickson, Hollice Witherspoon battled it out in Searcy today at the 5A East conference tournament for Valley View. Grace and her partner Kate Calhoon finished 2nd place in doubles! Mary Beth and Hollice finished 3rd in doubles! And ole Ben Hyneman won the singles title!! They will advance to the state tournament and hopefully bring some hardware back to VVHS! Both VV’s girls and boys teams won the conference team title!
Stella Cato, Hallie Guadamuz, Molly Montgomery, Avery McPike, Anna Kate Haustein, Hudson Tedder, Beckett Bonner, Payton Goad, and Owen Criner represented JHS at the 6A Central conference tournament in North Little Rock. Stella and Hallie won their first match, avenging an earlier season loss to a strong Mt. St. Mary’s team. It was a battle but they won 5-7,6-2,6-4. That earned them a match against the defending conference champs from NLR. They gave it their best shot but NLR was just too strong. Tomorrow, they play one match. Win, they go to state. Lose, they stay home. Avery and Molly steamrolled through the first 2 rounds. They are into the semis and have already qualified for state!! They looked very impressive today. Anna Kate got a win in the 1st round this morning before losing to an incredible player in the 2nd round. Unfortunately, all of our boys lost 1st round today but I was still so proud of the effort and fight they showed today. They faced very strong players this morning.
